Chương 54: So many meetings!
I ran through the silver lining of the mountain edges as I remembered my previous conversation.
'Now I just have to wait and see if someone attacks me or not then I can further determine if the secret order is indeed infiltrated or not. ' I thought.
[But what if they don't attack you even if they had infiltrated the secret order? What if they already knew about your plans and decided to play safe. ] the system asked a very valid question but I already had a plan in my mind.
'Then I will join them and determine for myself if they had infiltrated or not. There is indeed a saying that it's better to keep your enemy close instead of turning your back on them. ' I replied as my system cut me off.
[That's not how the proverb goes]
"I modified it but it doesn't matter as the result will be the same. " I replied confidently.
[Awfully confident are we? ] my system asked sarcastically.
...
I finally returned back to my room through kamui, it was already past midnight but I couldn't sleep, my thoughts were still in a mess, restless I sat down on my bed as my system asked me with concern.
[What happened? Why aren't you sleeping? ]
My head touched on the soft fabric of my pillow as I answered in my mind.
'The memories of the head bandit that I scanned through my sharingan revealed a man with an oni mask, I am very sure that it's the same man which ezra describes and the man who killed the Escort Lord...Head warden's friend and according to head warden's own testimony, he killed the head bandit so why did he killed the only clue to his friend's killer and also the mystery of why that oni masked man wanted to kidnap Feng li.'
[Are you doubting the head warden? ] my system asked quite concerned.
'No... Maybe? It's just that this mess is getting more messier the more I try to uncover it like a bunched up threads of wool. What is right and what is wrong, I don't know' I thought as I felt my forehead throbbing.
'So many assumptions lead to so many possibilities that right now I can't possibly trust anybody... And on top of that, how is feng li related in this mess? So many questions yet not a single answer.' My thoughts came to a halt as a headache suddenly assaulted me.
"Agh" I groaned in pain as my system spoke to me, it's voice filled with concern.
[Take it easy, calm down] it's soothing voice reduced the pain as I opened my eyes and gaze at the ceiling.
[Don't overthink too much, the answer to all your questions will be revealed to you one day so take it easy. You don't have to push yourself too much. ] it comforted me with words, something that I needed right now. Someone to tell me that it's ok.
"Thanks." I whispered as I felt my eye lid becoming heavier and heavier as I finally doze off into the land of dreams.
System's POV:
[Seems like he is asleep, I mean he did overthink for the entire day and almost fried his brains creating assumptions and what not. ] I don't know what to do, he is indeed right, all this information are in a complete mess, the more we try to unravel, the more this spider web extends.
He is brave even though he was just a normal teenager a few days ago, he still is facing it head on so bravely. Yet deep down I know, he is still afraid and confused.
I want to help him but I don't know how...
Heck! I don't even know what am I? Am I an existence born from his consciousness or a creation of a higher being? I don't know,
Who am I and what purpose do I have?
Why did I come here? It's as if my very existence, the system is trying to block me off from the answers that I crave.
*Snore* My thoughts came to a halt thanks to the snoring of a certain someone.
My thoughts which were spiralling like a whirlpool stopped as I looked at the carefree expression of my host. I smiled, perhaps at my own stupidity.
[I told him not to overthink but now I am doing the same mistake myself. ] I smiled again as his snores deepened, his saliva ran down from his lips onto his face.
[It's alright, no need to rush as we will eventually find the answers, Together. ] I smiled happily and deep down inside, I knew the answer to atleast one of that question, and that is the propose of my life is to help my childish host as best as I can. A host who doesn't even know how to wipe his own snot.
Arthur's POV:
The first ray of the morning sun hit my face as I woke up, my headache completely disappeared as I feel rejuvenated. The birds singing in new symphony or perhaps it was my imagination or a dream as birds shouldn't be here inside this small dimension of the ancient palace rooms.
Then a sharp voice woke me up from my dreamy state better then any alarm possibly could.
[Woke up sleepy head! It's already past 6:00 AM. Don't you have a meeting with that cunning bitch Huan li?] The system thundered.
'Oh right... ' I woke up begrudgingly as I started brushing my teeth.
'This lifestyle is truly making me lazy, if this was the jungle then I would have never felt so lazy and comfortable. I guess this is what you call a modern predicament. ' I thought as I hopped on for a quick shower.
After that, I put on a new set of clothes and arrived at the courtyard where jiang li was drinking her Chinese tea and feng li was practicing his swords arts.
"Morning" I casually waved at them.
"Looks like master yang was too tired yesterday, mingling in crowd doesn't seem to be master yang's strong forte" She laughed and started teasing as if I was a little kid, ignoring her, I walked towards the exit gate to this supposed 'room' when feng li suddenly called out to me.
"Brother Yang! " I turned around as he halted his sword practice and looked at me.
"My uncle keeps on pestering me so please, will you meet him here, today at 4 PM? " He requested as I sighed internally, 'So many meetings' I thought but still told him that I will surely be there.
I exited the room and started walking down the grand corridor, lit up with an array of lamps which neither produced any heat or take in any electricity,
"Room no 100." I searched through the array of rooms laden in the hallway like the rich peaches grown in the spring season. As the more I wander, the more I noticed that the quality of the room was increasing as the number decreased, for example, room no 500 was a little worser then room no 499 and that is based on the design of the doors and not the actual room itself since I didn't enter any.
Finally, I stumbled across the ever illustrious room no 100 and when I tried to open it, a maid came out of there and greeted me.
"The lady is waiting. " She elegantly said as she motion herself towards the door.
The door automatically opened and as I stepped in, what greeted me further made me realized the disparity between the rich and the poor.
A painting drawn by a master painter with vibrant colors and powerful strokes, both soft and brave at the same time. That was the description that came to my mind when I saw the inside of this supposed room no 100.
The ground below me was covered in velvet green grass with the occasional bunches of lavenders and roses, trees ladens with fruits and flowers were grown in abundance here but what truly made it breathtaking was the vast lake that stood beyond this green scenery. It's water shimmering with a golden hue as swans and fishes played in the lake. Lotuses and lily growing in abundance and if that was not enough, in the middle of the lake, a small island stood on top of which a beautiful castle was built. It's design similar to both a Chinese and Japanese architect which was further decorated with white marbles and colorful crystals.
"Beautiful." I softly muttered at the grand scenery before me, the maid smiling behind my back as if pleased by my reaction.
*Flap*
The swans flapped their wings and played in the sky.
[You were not crazy, there are indeed birds in this place! ] my system spoke up bedazzled.
'That's what surprises you? Birds? ' I thought as I wondered how big the room no 1 might be ? Is it the size of a big city? Does this castle stores a space as big as a small country?
A moderate size but elegant boat was towed next to me along the shores, 5 beautiful maids already occupying the seats. Waking me up from my thoughts as the maid motion her hands towards the boat, asking me to sit on it. I followed her instructions as 3 girls started fanning me with fans made from silver feathers as the maid who greeted me at the door fed me some fruits by her hands which might be plucked from the trees from before. The remaining 2 started rowing the boat with pedals made from exquisite bamboos.
The boat moved across the lake, disturbing the serene water with slight waves that made the lilies and lotuses dance in delight.
Riding like a royalty across this seren lake, I finally arrived at the island and the beautiful castle.
"Please follow me sir" The maid once again slightly bowed at me and started walking in front of me towards a garden situated at the top of the castle.
As I entered the garden, Huan li was sitting on a crystal chair, facing at me as if she was waiting impatiently for me.
Her hair was slightly wet as if she had just taken a shower, her wet hair tuck behind her ears which further emphasised her beautiful facial features. I didn't saw her carefully before but she was indeed breathtaking, her sharp nose, slim face and rosy lips along with her shimmering silvery and greyish eyes truly made her a beauty to die for. Wearing a simple bath robe which shyly revealed some of her voluptuous curves and paired with a slim waist truly made her very enticing and irresistible.
Lucky for her, I was a man who knew how to control himself also the fact that she purposefully meet me in this get up according to her plan.
"Seen enough? " She playfully spoke to me as she motioned at her maid to bring a similar chair to hers and then motioned at her maid to leave.
"How can I? When you cover yourself in this thin fabric which you refer to as cloth" I innocently shrugged and sat down on the chair.
"Tempted? " She slowly spoke to me, her words tingling inside my ears trying to seduce me.
"Not really" I shrugged again.
Seeing my nonchalant behavior, she looked at me in my eyes with doubt, then her gaze wander down to somewhere more mischievous.
"I have yet to meet a single man who haven't gotten hard down there after seeing me in this state. " She brought her hand closer to me and grabbed my ear as she flirtatiously winked at me.
"Why are you lying? "
'She smells nice. ' I thought but didn't show it on my face. Seeing no reaction from me, she then further continued. "Are r u perhaps an eunuch? ' she asked with genuine doubts in her eyes.
[Heh! ] my system scoffed, whether it was directed towards her or to me, I didn't know.
Pushing her hand away from my face, I replied.
" Have you ever thought of the possibility that you are just not attractive enough? "
"That simply isn't possible. " She quickly replied while she grabbed my hands.
"Your confidence implies that you have done this strategy with other men with flying success. " I replied as I again swat her hand away from mine.
"Don't be jealous dear, you're the only man I have shown this so far. " She got up from her chair and sat down on my lap, a plum yet perky feeling assaulted my below with a soft sensation that wrapped around my entire lap thanks to her big asset.
"It's just that I can imagine what type of reaction they will have" Her voice tempting me as she put her lips closer to mine, a mere cm away. Her breath warm and passionate.
"You have a rather active imagination. " I whispered as I lean in for a kiss but was blocked by her velvet hands.
"Ah~Not yet" She moaned and whispered in my ears as she clapped her hands and summon 2 of her maids with cups and a teapot.
"This is our special tea specially brew by me, please don't say no to this dear. " She coquettishly spoke to me as she poured the tea on a cup and placed it near my lips.
"Let me feed you with my own hands. " She whispered with temptation.
I looked at the tea.
'System, scanned the tea for any foreign items. ' I commanded.
[Affirmative... The scan is complete and this tea contains the tear drops of the evening dew.
A lucrative poison which disables a person's ability to lie for a short period of time. ] the system elaborated.
'So she is finally making her play' I thought as I was getting tired waiting for it as my eyes wander into her cleavage and the beauty mark on it. It was indeed tempting as a rather naughty idea associated with tea and her cleavage came into my mind inspired from my previous 'research' but lucky for her, I was not that degenerate.
"Sure" I acted to sip the tea while commanding my system to store it my inventory without her notice. Activation of inventory didn't required any chakra or qi so she was unable to sense it and was completely oblivious to it.
After acting like I finished drinking, a cold dagger touched my neck as she quickly shifted her position from sitting
sideways on my lap to directly sit on my lap facing me, her legs on either side of my body wrapped around my waist in a tight embrace as a soft heavenly sensation invaded both my chest and my family jewels, her legs wrapped around my waist. Her lovely face now contained a strong disdain.
"All men are the same, and here I was thinking you were any different. " She spoke with stern eyes as she placed her silvery edged dagger closer to my throat, a slight cut appeared along with a small trickle of blood flowing from it.
Her eyes followed the drop of blood sliding through my neck as she pulled her face closer to the cut and started sucking it with her soft red lips.
Only the wet slurps of sucking could be heard throughout the castle top as even the swan silenced themselves. The sound continued for a few seconds without any disturbance and I have to confess, I tried to act like a monk with a stone for a heart yet this much stimulation was too much, even for me as a hard thing started poking at her from below.
Feeling the foreign substance poking very closely at her, she stopped sucking and looked at me, her eyes containing a trace of mockery as if she had expected it.
Completely out of my expectations, she gently started stroking it as she whispered.
"At least this bad boy is honest. " She then whispered closely near my ear while biting her lower lips.
"If you honestly answer my questions and are willing to co-operate then, I-will-do-whatever-you-want. " She spoke each word of the last sentence slowly, her tingling breath burning me up from inside.
She chuckled seductively upon seeing my expression. "I am not attractive enough, was it? "
She got up from my lap and started walking towards her chair and sat down.
"Not that you are able to lie right now. " She spoke with mockery and disdain evidenced from her voice.
"Wow I didn't expect that. " I spoke nonchalantly which made her lift her eyebrow for a fraction of a second.
"Now tell me. " She spoke as a threatening aura started swirling in the air.
"Are you Robin Hood? "
"No" I replied in a deadpan expression which derailed her momentum.
"Wha-... What? " She asked appearing to be rather caught off gaurd.
"You heard me. " I again replied nonchalantly.
"Bu-but... " She was shaken as crystal like tears started forming on her starry eyes.
"Even after all that I did... " Tears started falling on her thin robe which started making it a bit see through.
"You are lying! " She shouted in denial as I sighed.
'She had never done anything close to this with a man as she stated before yet she had done such bold actions to me, all in hopes to seduce me yet it turns out that I wasn't even the right man. ' I felt pity for her at my deception but little does she know that I was indeed the man she was looking for.
"Take it easy my little cherry" I affectionately rubbed her shoulder as it somewhat calmed her down and slowed her crying. I then pulled her closer to my chest as she wept for a while as I gently rubbed her back.
"Here, drink this. " I pour her some tea and secretly instructed my system.
'Change the content of this cup with the tea that I stored in my inventory before. '
[Roger! ]
I gently put the tea cup on her lips as I gently whispered "let me feed you. " My eyes meeting hers.
Maybe her mind wasn't working right or maybe she was vulnerable after crying but either way, she drank it!
Just after taking one sip, her eyes became sharp as she noticed something amiss. In anger, she quickly swat the tea cup right from my hand and pushed me away from her.
An exquisite spear emerged in her right hand as she thrust it at my throat.
I didn't dodge as I had a hunch. Not that I need to dodge thanks to my kamui.
Seeing me not dodging, her eyes shook a bit as she forcefully stopped the spear thrust just a inch away from my throat.
A gust of wind exploded around the spear tip which reduced the table and the chairs around us to dust.
The very next moment, multiple people dressed as assassins appeared from various hidden corners and placed their blades at my neck in a circular formation.
'10 golden core realms' I gauged their strength and was surprised, she couldn't had muster this much force by her own means which means-
[She is part of the secret order. ] my system completed my sentence once again.
'I was expecting to be attacked but not like this' I mentally shrugged as this much possess no threat to me.
"Why didn't you dodge!? " Huan li sharply inquired and rudely brought me out of my thoughts.
"Meh, I had a feeling that you wouldn't harm me. " I replied half jokingly.
"A feeling... " She put serious thought on it then upon seeing my smiling face, she shouted.
"Stop joking around you bastard! "
"Ok-ok" I shrugged again like it was a habit.
"But don't think these toys scare me" My voice became heavier, my eyes became crimson red and a black pattern formed on my eyes as I marched towards the spear tip which phased right through my neck without impaling me.
Huan li's expression turned from horror to bewilderment along with the assassins but sadly it was just a guess since their faces were covered.
"How? " She muttered absentmindedly as I phase through her spear then grabbed her thin waist with one hand while the other held the collar of her bath robe which was revealing her cleavage a bit too much and was threatening to fall off.
"Isn't it your turn to answer now? " I asked playfully.
"But before that, shouldn't you atleast dismiss these distractions? " I asked with a rather serious tone as Huan li understood what type of question I was going to ask thus dismissed her assassin troupes.
"Now would you stop grabbing me? " She asked with annoyance and slight disdain.
"I rather not as I am fully enjoying your soft and squishy waist. " I joked as she turn her head away in disdain as if talking to me was an insult to her.
I smiled at her antics but decided to go down to business as the tea's effect won't last forever.
"Are you part of the secret order. " I asked.
"Yes." She replied without putting up a fight.
"Are you a part of the ancient emperor's cultist? " I rapidly asked another question.
"No! " She replied in anger as if I wronged her by asking that question.
"Ummm" I hummed as I thought.
'Oh so she isn't a part of them. '
"Next question, how did you came to know that I was Robin Hood? "
"I had suspected you from quite some time and my suspicions steeled when I heard the rumours in our organization. " She quickly replied.
'Rumors... So that's how he is doing it' I thought.
"Since when did you started suspecting me? " I asked.
She scoffed and answered.
"Since day one when you were able to overpower me in the clothing store of the treasure pavilion.
You caught me off gaurd which proves that you were stronger then me but the weird fact was that a person around my age who was stronger then me appeared out of nowhere in this city.
Upon further inspection, I heard that you captured a bandit which was placed at the prison castle.
Finally it all connected when I heard that prison castle was attacked and the head bandit was killed. "
"A sharp one indeed. " I commended at her prowess.
[Only 10 seconds remain before the effects of the tear drops of the evening dew wears off. ] my system quickly notified me.
Upon hearing that notification, I decided to take my revenge.
I tightly grabbed her waist and pulled her towards me which made her squeal like a cute cat.
"What are you-" I hushed her as I put my fingers at her lips,
"Do you love me? " I asked.
She looked dead in my eye with disgust and shouted.
"No! of course not! "
"Hmmmm, then maybe this might help. " I removed my fingers from her lips and gave her a deep and passionate kiss.
Maybe she was too stunned or in a daze but she didn't tried to break free from me for quite some time, then suddenly as if she recovered her consciousness, she pushed me away from her and stared daggers at me with anger and hatred.
"You bas-" I stopped her before she completed her sentence and laughed.
"Haha, now we are equal. "
I could still hear her cursing as I Kamuied myself out of there.
3rd person's POV:
A vortex appeared in a grand hallway as Arthur appeared from inside of it.
"Hahaha" he was still laughing as he opened his eyes.
He was standing in the middle of countless intersections of the grand hallway, spreading like the roots of a tree and trapping him like a spider web, he didn't know which path leads to which. He himself didn't know where he kamuied himself. He was lost.
"Shit" he cursed.
