Chương 4: First rejection
"Miss Davis, you can go now, we will inform the results later to your agent." said director Sofia Coppola.
Anne nodded and exited the audition room. She came to audition for the movie "Lost in translation". This is the first project she decided to start with auditioning. Although her audition went well, but she can't say if the director liked it too.
Inside the studio, Producer Ross Katz asked: "What do you think about Anne Davis?"
Director Sofia looked at Anne's information in front of her: "She's good, but she is a child actor."
Producer Ross nodded: "She seems to have started preparing for her transition into an adult actor."
He liked Anne Davis's performance very much. Despite being young and having acted in child roles till now, she played the role of Charlotte very well. Through her whole performance, he couldn't find a single mistake, it was raw and genuine. They have been having auditions for the past few days, and he thinks Anne Davis was the best till now.
Director Sofia put away the papers in her hand, and looked at the co-producer of her movie: "Look Ross, I also know Anne Davis performwd very well, but we can't cast her in this role. The script is already controversial with the scene of an adult man in forties kissing a young girl, and we can't take more riska by casting a young girl in the role of Charlotte, who has just turned sixteen a month ago and was also a child actor."
Ross Katz nodded and didn't argue more. He was only speaking in favor of Anne Davis because he liked her performance, but if you ask him to put the future of film in danger because of this, he won't take even a single bit of chance.

No matter how good you are, there is never any gurantee that only the most talented one will be selected. So, It's better to look forward to the future instead of wasting your time getting sad."
Anne didn't know what to do. She knows what Richard was saying was true. But it was really a big blow for her that she was not accepted when she had prepared so much for it.
Hollywood is a place where everything is replaceable, from actors, to directors, to producers, and everything. That's why they say, there are only appropriate people here, not the only ones. The same is true for Anne, even if she performed the best, there is no gurantee that she should've been selected. Although other girls might've not performed like her, but there was no such that only she could play the role.
In the end, Anne had no choice but to accept Richard's suggestion, and look for something else.
Seeing that his client's mood had improved, Richard said: "Why don't we start with projects like "Freaky Friday" and "What a girl wants". They belong to Disney, and Disney will obviously give you the preference."
Anne has worked in a lot of Disney's projects, and almost all of them were a hit. Many people even started calling Anne Davis, the Disney princess, and disney has also been always generous to her. Almost all of the disney's projects which are age appropriate for her, are sent to Anne for audition.
Anne immediately rejected: "No, I don't want those comedic roles for a while."
Richard was very helpless. He doesn't know since when did his client became so picky. She doesn't want to do horror, and now even comedy genre is out. If other people were to know such a thing, they would definitely be speechless and scold hef. In hollywood, people spend their whole lives in search for a lead role, and here, Anne Davis has even cut the whole genre.
In the end, Richard had no choice but to accept the demands: "Okay, you focus on your other auditions, I will look for something else."
Although his client has become more picky and unreasonable, but there are also some positive points. Anne has also become a lot more mature and sensible. At least, sensible enough that he hasn't found her drinking and smoking for quite sometime.
