Do not really get the thinking that he doesn’t need to the experience from challenging those gyms. Can you really compare the experience gained from elite level trainers who basically rule their towns to a bunch of wild pokemon? Fighting in a tide is very different than fighting in a one on one battle. You don’ have your other Pokémon there as support or defense during a gym battle, which he did during the tide. Plus trained Pokémon would be sever al levels stronger than wild Pokémon at the same stage, add in the gym leaders commands and experience. It’ like comparing the best basketball players at the loca gym to nba pla yers. Nowhere near the same experience.

Too many fanfics include electivire. I’ say go with the dog or cat one. They ain’ used to often in fanfics. And any mouse other than pikachu is dumb. Aloan raichu would be done too. Plus would give you a psychic type and you wouldn’ have to go out of your way to give the Mc a ralts or abra
