"Charizard, it's up to you!" Ash threw the Poké Ball in his hand vigorously, and Charizard, his old rival, emerged to fight Aerodactyl.
As the white light dissipated, Charizard appeared in front of Aerodactyl. Seeing Aerodactyl's fighting spirit, Charizard understood the situation without needing any explanation.
"Roar!" Charizard roared excitedly, eager to test Aerodactyl's strength and thrilled to battle it again.
Charizard hoped Aerodactyl had improved; otherwise, it would be pointless if it remained the same as before, as Charizard itself was no longer the same Pokémon it once was.
As the two prepared to fight, Professor Oak and the others descended from the heights to watch the battle. Professor Oak was curious about how Charizard, with its Silver-level strength, had managed to suppress the gym-level Aerodactyl, especially considering the type disadvantage.
Professor Oak was particularly interested in the flame on Charizard's tail. From his experience, Charizard's flame was very different from the fire of ordinary Fire-type Pokémon.
"Come on, Aerodactyl." Ash waved to Aerodactyl, signaling it to attack first. Charizard also gestured with a confident smirk.
"Roar!" Aerodactyl's eyes hardened. Although it knew Charizard's true strength was greater than its own, being underestimated by its rival fueled its determination. With a roar, it launched its attack.
Rock-type energy surged, and sharp gravels condensed rapidly in the surrounding space. In just two seconds, hundreds of sharp stones materialized – Aerodactyl's Stone Edge!
With a powerful flap of its wings, Aerodactyl propelled the barrage of sharp gravel towards Charizard, leaving it with no option but to face the attack head-on.
"Flamethrower!" Ash commanded, and Charizard unleashed a torrent of flames, colliding with the incoming Stone Edge.
Professor Oak frowned slightly. Under normal circumstances, this would be a poor choice, as Rock-type moves were super effective against Fire-type. Even with Stone Edge's scattered attack pattern, it wouldn't be easy for an Silver-level Charizard to withstand.
However, remembering that Charizard had defeated Aerodactyl before and knowing Ash's capabilities, he remained silent, observing the battle.
Misty and Brock had complete faith in Charizard and Ash, showing no signs of worry.
"Boom!" The attacks clashed, and a powerful shockwave erupted. To Professor Oak's astonishment, the sharp stones, enveloped in flames, melted instantly and fell to the ground, while the flames continued their relentless assault on Aerodactyl.
"What a terrifying temperature. This kind of temperature, capable of melting rock instantly, must be at least around 2000 degrees." Professor Oak was shocked that a mere Silver-level Pokémon could generate such intense heat. This was a feat only achievable by elite-level Pokémon or those with exceptional talents.
Seemingly anticipating this outcome, Aerodactyl swiftly took to the air, evading the Flamethrower. Its expression grew serious. Charizard, who once needed special moves to defeat it, could now suppress it with a simple Flamethrower.
Was Ash's training method truly that powerful, or was this Charizard simply extraordinarily talented? Aerodactyl couldn't comprehend it and had no time to dwell on it, as it needed to focus on the battle.
Rock-type energy surged once again, but this time, instead of Stone Edge, Aerodactyl unleashed Rock Slide!
The gray-yellow energy spread in the air, and huge, solid rocks condensed, appearing just above Charizard's head. Under Aerodactyl's control, they plummeted suddenly!
Rock Slide created many rocks, and its range was vast. Although dodging was possible, Ash had decided to completely subdue Aerodactyl this time, opting for a head-on confrontation.
"Charizard, use Flamethrower!" Ash didn't choose any other moves, sticking with Flamethrower to counter the attack.
"Roooar!" With a mighty roar, Golden flames erupted once again, resembling a fire dragon soaring into the sky. It confronted the falling rocks, undeterred by anything except the threat to Ash.
The fire dragon devoured the stones, instantly melting them into magma. The relentless flames continued to roast the molten rock, vaporizing it completely.
Aerodactyl's expression turned grim, but it seized this opportunity for a surprise attack. It activated Agility, vanishing in a blur of pink-purple energy. In the next moment, it reappeared over ten meters away, charging towards Charizard at high speed.
Charizard, its head lowered, observed Aerodactyl's rapid approach. A confident smirk curled its lips, and it surged forward to meet the challenge.
"Use Dragon Claw," Ash commanded, unconcerned by Charizard's actions. His earlier choices had conveyed his intentions, and Charizard responded accordingly.
Dragon-type energy surged, and purple-blue energy enveloped its sharp claws, forming larger, more menacing energy claws that resembled a dragon's.
Aerodactyl let out a fierce cry and executed Take Down. Normal-type energy enveloped its body, forming a visible protective film and intensifying the impact. The surrounding air rippled as it charged.
"Bang!" The two collided. After a brief moment of silence, a violent hurricane erupted, sending visible shockwaves through the air.
Sensing Aerodactyl's power, Charizard was surprised. Its claws, resisting Aerodactyl's impact, trembled slightly.
Aerodactyl was equally taken aback by Charizard's strength. It had assumed Charizard excelled only in special attacks, but its physical attacks were formidable as well.
Both Pokémon exerted their strength simultaneously, attempting to push each other back. However, the energy didn't dissipate; instead, it intensified as they clashed again.
"Bang—bang—bang—bang—!" Multiple collisions ensued, each impact causing the air to vibrate and the storm to grow.
"This is incredible..." Professor Oak marveled at Aerodactyl's ferocity and Charizard's strength.
An Silver-level Pokémon battling a gym-level Aerodactyl on equal footing... If Charizard grew even stronger and reached the gym level, could it challenge an League-level opponent?
Professor Oak didn't have the answer. The strength gap between levels widened as Pokémon grew stronger. Defeating higher-level opponents was possible at lower levels, but such occurrences were rare at higher levels.
