บท 23: Accepting my punishment and trying to make mother no longer mad at me
Heading to the surface took 17 hours, I was collecting crystals on the way, after coming out of Babel, I head to the guild. Once here I exchange my crystals and head to Hephaestus's workshop, I give them my short sword, backpack, and clothes.
I want a spare set of my clothes and have everything repaired, after that's done, I head to the bathhouse. I wash all the grime off me, then I soak in water, I nearly fell asleep, after getting out I get dressed in my casual clothes. I make my way home, and as I do, I feel a sense of foreboding.
Entering the house, I head to mother's office, once there I knock on the door. "Come in Sara" That's not scary at all... walking inside, I'm greeted by my smiling mother, but nothing about her seems happy to see me.
"Hello mother, I'm back..." "Oh, you're back? Are you sure?" "N-No I... I don't think so, I feel more scared than when I am in the dungeon..." "I see. Then do you know what you've done wrong?" "I-I don't k-know for sure." "You've made everyone worry, and for you will be punished." "I... I-I ok..."
"You are forbidden from going into the dungeon until I say so, and if you go against this, you will be in for a world of hurt, am I understood, Young Lady." "Yes mother, but I need to say something, I promised a friend I would be back in a few days. I would be grateful if you would allow me, to tell her that I won't be able to go down for a while."
"Fine, you will be allowed to do that. But, if you don't get back in 24 hours, your punishment will be far worse! Am I understood?" "Yes mother and thank you." "Now, get on the bed. I'm going to look at what you've been up to." "D-do I have to?" "Yes" "A-alright"
Getting on the bed, I lift my shirt, as mother updates my falna and looks at my memories, I can feel her getting more upset with me. "What, did I tell you, Young Lady." "T-to be careful?" "And!" "No... no self torture?" "Then why did you do it!" "To increase my Poison Resistance..."
"And! You weren't careful at all while you were in the colosseum!" "Oh... yeah that, right." "Yoooou idiot!" "I have nothing to say." "From now on, you need to treat me, and yourself better." "Right, I'm sorry mother, I've been too focused on getting stronger."
"I hope you reflect apon your actions young lady." "Now, go say bye to your friend, and I mean it, be back in 24 hours!" "Yes, right away mother." Quickly running out of the house, I sprint to the dungeon, once there I cast Path of The Burning Steps full chant, and use Physical Enhancement.
Sprinting down the dungeon, I get to the 27th floor in 6 hours, "Fear, I'm really sorry! I made my mother angry, and I won't be able to come back into the dungeon for a while." "I'm really sorry!" "I-It's fine, when will you be back?" "I don't know, I'm sorry." "I see, well I'll see you later then."
Hugging Fear before I leave, I say "I'll see you later." Letting Fear go, I start running back upto the surface. It takes me 8 hours to get back home, once inside, I go say goodnight to mother, after that I pass out on my bed.

After looking at my falna, I start getting ready for work, once I'm dressed I head to the guild, as I arrive I see a certain red haired werewolf. "Good morning rose!" "Morning sara." "Look, I-I'm sorry, I'm a bad friend... I should have come back sooner." "It's fine sara, it's something I have to deal with every day."
"It doesn't make it okay, I made you worry for no good reason, and I'm sorry for that." "Fine, you'll just have to make it up to me." "I will, mother has forbidden me from going into the dungeon, so I definitely will." "That's good, you've been way too reckless." "Well, I need to get to work, so I'll see you tomorrow when I come by, see you later rose." "See you later sara."
Heading to the Hostess of Fertility for work, I think about what I should do, training is something I'll do but, I hope that mother won't be angry with me for long. I should have thought more, not just about myself, but about the people around me, how care for me.
Getting to work, I enter through the back, I start getting things ready for the day. As I'm getting done, syr comes in, "Oh, sara it's good to see you." "Hi syr, yes it's good to see you too." "Why were you gone for so long?" "I... I was so focused on getting stronger that, when I was out of food, was what made me come back."
"Mother is punishing me as well." "Fufufu you got in trouble~." "Stop that, I already feel bad as it is." "Oh come on, it's funny~." "Yeah, you're right, it is funny, I just wasn't thinking." "Well, let's get to work syr." And this is how my days repeat.
After about a week, I went and got my stuff from Hephaestus's workshop, my old clothes, short sword, and backpack were repaired, and I finally got a new set of my dungeon clothes. They were roughly the same, only real difference is the feel, and the defense was higher.
They felt heavier, and I think the one who made them has the blacksmith Development Ability. Because the defense is great, clothes that have increased defense, they'll definitely help. After that I continued working, training, and figuring out a teleportation spell, one where I need to set up a destination beforehand.
After 2 months and 4 weeks, I was going to the guild to see rose when, I ran into an elf. "Sorry about that, I'm always in Stealth so, I run into people all the time." "It's fine but, if you keep running into people, why not just undo your stealth?" "Well... It's become a habit, going into the dungeon alone, can get quite dangerous, if you aren't hiding your presence."
"Would you be able to teach me?" "I can try, I've never taught anyone before? Yeah, sounds like fun." "I'm sara by the way, what's your name?" "It's Ryuu, it's nice to meet you." "Likewise, you know, I think we could get along." "Well, hey, I need to run, when you have time, you can find me at the Hostess of Fertility, it's where I work."
After we parted ways, I went to rose, I failed to scare her, I forgot to use Stealth again. Going to work, my days repeat, after 3 weeks, Ryuu came to my work. I started teaching her about Stealth, it was difficult, for both of us, as a skill, I've never had to think to deeply about it.
After 2 weeks, we started to get it, and after a while she was able to do the basics. After a month, as I was training, my archery seemed to stagnant. I could do all kinds of things, from running while shooting, to hitting a moving target, even doing both at the same time.
But even with all that, I wasn't improving further, wanting to understand, I talked about it with mother. "Mother, I've stagnated in my archery, am I doing something wrong, could you help me?" "Sure sweetie, I've been waiting for you to ask." "You can't learn everything by yourself."
With that, my training with Mother Artemis began. No matter how many times we competed, I lost every time, after a while, and with Mother's guidance, I start to understand my problems. After a month, I had started to fix my problems, and when I was halfway down with the problems I knew of, I got a skill that I wanted from the beginning.

I kept working, training, and studying what I could about magic, after 6 months, I could see the magic spell on the horizon.
I couldn't test the spell even if I made it, so I'm going to have to try getting it to a beginner level version. I kept challenging mother to a match every week, I've lost every time.
Even if I got close, I'd still lose, with every loss, I would work harder, I really want to beat mother once. Continuing on with my days, I started getting the itch to go into the dungeon, whenever that happened, I would ask Ottar to train me again.
He shows no mercy every time, he's gotten stronger since last time. 2 months go by and I finally matched mother 1 time, it was a draw, but who can say they matched a goddess known for her archery. "Mother, can you see if I can Level up?" "Sure sweetie, let's go inside."
Laying on the bed with my back exposed, mother started playing with my falna, "Sweetie, you have 2 Development Abilities to choose from again, Spirit Healing and Swordsman again, so which 1?" "Hmmm, that's a tough one, I'll go with Spirit Healing, also, what's it do?"
"Let's see here, you will automatically regenerate mind, and will begin regenerating mind at a small rate after using magic." "That's good, I wonder how much it'll increase, the speed I regenerate mind." "You'll have to figure it out as time passes sweetie."
"Here is your status, I'm happy you've come so far." "I couldn't have done it without you mom, I'm glad you had me stay." "Yes, you really should be careful from now on." "I will mother, I was just too eager before." "Being eager is fine, just not to the point of nearly killing yourself."

Artemis:"She fought endless hoards of monsters, using her bow and short sword, the stupidity of it still makes me mad."
