Within Takeuchi group, he was assigned with Uchimura, Murakami, Tanimoto, and Umeji. Murakami was here with him, but three of them left, telling Takeuchi that they were trying to catch some fish.
Takeuchi admires Uchimura's spirit as he was still trying to find fish when he had the chance to do so, but maybe he was really that hungry.
The surface of the giant tree was like a rock, he even suspect that it was harder than the metal in his world. He wanted to take a piece, but when he hit it with his spear, it didn't even make a scratch.
As for the light mushrooms, it was large one. From a distance, he once saw that there were light mushrooms that were larger than boulders.
There wasn't anyone here who knew for sure whether the light mushrooms were poisonous or not, so no one tried to eat them. It would be great if it wasn't, but they don't know for sure.
Leaning against the giant tree, he was able to relax, it would be great if he wasn't hungry he thought, but still, it was so quiet and relaxing in here that it made him forget for a second about his hungry.
Closing his eyes, there was a howl from far away, reaching even where he was standing. Moreover, the howling seemed to be more frequent than before.
"This howling doesn't sound like it's going to stop anytime soon," He muttered to himself.
But suddenly he felt a presence in front of him, nimbly, he opened his eyes, and his heart pounded harder as pair of gloomy eyes stared at him.
Frozen in shock, he said after a moment. "You scared me, Murakami."
His words seemed to make him realize that his face was too close to Takeuchi as he smiled apologetically and said. "Sorry, sorry, I thought you were sleeping so..."
So what? What were you going to do if I was sleeping... Takeuchi thought, a little annoyed at him.
"Where are those three?" He asked, deciding to change the topic after he had calmed down a bit.
"They were still in the river, trying to catch some fish," he replied as he sat next to me. Takeuchi could tell by his expression that something was bothering him.
"Did they make it?" He asked curiously, trying to get him to talk. "There was nothing in it, the river was very long and we drank from the fresh water. It was enough to fill our stomachs, but I feel like it was different from the freshwater we knew. I think that's why there were no fish in it."
After the couple drank water from the river, he felt that something was different. The taste was still the same as freshwater he knew, in the end, he can't say exactly what is missing from the water in the river.
What I knew was that it was different... He thought, unsure.
"But still, I think it was okay to just try to find fish in it, but it was still disappointing," Takeuchi said.
Murakami replied with his usual gloom. "Sigh, I don't know much about the river, what I do know is that we were stuck here, in the middle of nowhere, do you think we can make it through this forest?"
Takeuchi takes looked around where the darkness dominated the forest and said "Who knows, but at least we tried".
The sound of cicadas and the stream of the river filled the air as Takeuchi and Murakami didn't speak to each other.
Confronting Murakami like this always made me feel uncomfortable. It wasn't that I didn't like him, but he was unreadable. I didn't know what he was thinking, and he wasn't much of a talker for me...
Except for a few important things, or on rare occasions when he thought something was important, he talked almost endlessly... Takeuchi thought as he tried to relax leaning on a gigantic tree.
After a while, when Takeuchi couldn't stand the uncomfortable feeling between them anymore, then he asked Murakami. "What happened?"
After a moment of silence, Murakami replied. "Nothing. It's just that, I don't think I could fight, I could feel that this world was different compared to our world, I mean, there was a giant tree here, so I thought it would be a fight sooner or later."
"Oh, don't worry too much," Takeuchi reassured him as he stood up and move his body, trying to stretch his stiff body from sitting for a long time. "I can't fight either, but it was enough. You can always rely on others, but if somehow you can't then it's your end. Running away is not always a bad option, and besides we are going here because of the hope to find some village, if we had a home then we can prepare ourselves more, and what makes you think there would be a fight? we walk all the way here and nothing was hindering us, it would be fine,"
"Hope, you're right, let's just see how things turn out," Murakami said, smiling a little, sounding a little more optimistic.
"Yeah, that's the spirit, well, you never know what is going to happen," Takeuchi said, unsure about what going to happen. "Let's go,"
"Go where?" Murakami asked, sounding hesitant to move his body.
"Let's go where the three are," Takeuchi said.
Reluctantly, Murakami stood up, just as they were about to go in the direction where Uchimura had gone.
Loud howling echoed, and with shock, Takeuchi turned around to see where the sound was coming from. And it was from the place where his classmates were resting.
"Did you hear that?" Takeuchi asked Murakami, making sure he wasn't the only one who hear the sound.
"Yes, what should we do?" replied Murakami.
"Let's go check it out," Takeuchi said, after a moment.
"Don't be stupid!" Uchimura interjected, appearing out of nowhere. Behind him were Umeji and Tanimoto. It looks like they don't find any fish as they don't come back with any. "Let's go together."
"Alright, let's wake everyone up," Takeuchi said.
"A good idea," Uchimura said.
But before they could go to their resting spot, a loud scream was heard. With a rush, they ran towards their remaining classmates in a resting spot.
