"After coming back this time, should we go out again?" Brock asked Ash as they walked towards his house.
"Probably not. After all, the Indigo Plateau Conference is less than a month and a half away," Ash said. If nothing unexpected happened, he would stay near Pallet Town for intensive training for the next month and a half.
"In that case..." Brock paused slightly and said with some embarrassment, "I want to live in Professor Oak's Laboratory. I don't know if that's possible."
"Ah?" Ash and Misty were astonished, and they both stopped, staring at Brock.
"It's like this. I feel that I still have many shortcomings. In this month and a half, I want to learn more about Pokémon from Professor Oak. I don't want to miss this opportunity!" Brock said earnestly.
"I have no problem, but as for Professor Oak, I don't know if it will work, so I can only ask for you," Ash replied after thinking for a while. He felt that there probably wouldn't be a problem.
Professor Oak had a good personality and liked to support the younger generation. Brock was so studious that he must be favored by Professor Oak. With Ash's connection, it should be feasible.
"Thank you, Ash!" Brock thanked Ash gratefully. He knew very well that this was a rare opportunity. It would be difficult for ordinary people to meet Professor Oak, let alone live in his laboratory and learn from him directly.
They returned to Ash's house and were about to open the fence door to enter the yard when they suddenly stopped, astonished by a Pokémon inside.
It was a humanoid Pokémon, about 1.3 meters tall, with slender limbs and a semicircular head with hat-like black ears on both sides. Its head wasn't very big, with a strange smile on its face, red circular markings on its cheeks, and red circles connecting its arms and legs to its body.
There were pink suction cups on its exposed fingers, and its toes were slightly raised, as if wearing clown shoes. Overall, it resembled a circus clown.
This Pokémon was Mr. Mime!

"Mr. Mime?" The three looked at each other, puzzled as to why Mr. Mime was at Ash's house.
Ash quickly remembered that there was indeed a Mr. Mime in Ash's house in his memory. But hadn't that Mr. Mime been recovered from the circus? How could there suddenly be one at his home?
"Mime..." Mr. Mime noticed Ash and his friends, scratched its head, and clapped its hands as if recognizing Ash.
"Mime! Mime! Mime!" Mr. Mime quickly opened the fence door, let them in, and enthusiastically led them to the door, acting as if it owned the place.
"No... what's going on here?" Misty asked, bewildered, as she sat on the sofa in the living room, watching Mr. Mime busy himself in the kitchen.
"I don't know either..." Ash shook his head. He didn't know what was happening, and whether this Mr. Mime was the one from the circus remained a mystery.
Mr. Mime moved quickly, preparing tea and snacks, which he placed on the coffee table. He looked at Ash and his friends with a smile and gestured for them to eat.
"Is this for us?" Brock pointed to the refreshments and then to himself and the others.
"Mime, Mime!" Mr. Mime nodded repeatedly, maintaining a cheerful smile.
"Delicious!" Misty exclaimed after taking a bite of a pastry. Her eyes lit up, and she looked at the biscuit in her hand in surprise, then at Mr. Mime. "Did you make this?"
"Mime!" Mr. Mime proudly puffed out his chest, confirming that he had indeed made the dessert.
"It's amazing!" Brock exclaimed. He admired Mr. Mime's cooking skills, considering he was a Pokémon.
Afterwards, Mr. Mime prepared Pokémon food for Pikachu and Togepi, watching them eat happily with a content smile.
While enjoying the refreshments, Ash watched Mr. Mime put their luggage in their respective rooms. When Mr. Mime returned to the living room, Ash asked, "Did my mother, Delia, recover you?"
"Mime... Mime..." Mr. Mime explained using gestures and sounds. Misty and Brock couldn't understand, but Ash and the Pokémon did.
In a sense, Mr. Mime was indeed Delia's Pokémon, but she hadn't officially captured it. Mr. Mime was willing to stay and help Delia with household chores.
The day after Ash and his friends left, Delia's employer invited all the staff to a traveling circus. There, Delia encountered Mr. Mime, and the circus owner took a liking to him.
However, Mr. Mime was not interested in joining the circus and preferred Delia's gentle nature. He decided to follow her.
Although Mr. Mime communicated through pantomime, Misty and Brock were impressed by his expressive gestures. They even applauded after his performance, which pleased Mr. Mime.
"It's quite a story, Mr. Mime. Thank you," Ash said, gradually recalling the memory through Mr. Mime's narration.
Mr. Mime not only helped Delia with chores but also provided companionship in Ash's absence, which was crucial for Ash. Having no family in his previous life, Ash deeply valued Delia, his only relative in this world. Mr. Mime's presence ensured Delia wouldn't feel lonely.
