Not only Pidgeot, but the Pokémon inside the Poké Balls in their pockets also fell unconscious.
"What... how...?" On Ash's Pidgeot, Misty and Brock also lost consciousness and collapsed onto Pidgeot's back, joining the still-unconscious Ash.
Ash's Pidgeot was no exception, also falling into a coma. The only reason they remained hovering in the air was Mew's power supporting them.
Mew closed its eyes, and its Psychic powers activated, spreading its fluctuations far and wide. Soon, even the Trainers who had been invited to New Island and were still at the Old Coast pier were enveloped by its power.
Mew, through sheer willpower, was able to cover such a vast area with its psychic energy. It connected with Mewtwo's mind, preparing to modify everyone's memories.
But just as they were about to act, Ash frowned, slowly opened his eyes, and looked around in a daze.
"Where am I...?" Ash clutched his head, feeling a slight headache. As he sat up and took in the scene before him, memories flooded back, stopping at the moment Mew had launched the Z-move.
"What's going on...?" Ash glanced around, noticing Mewtwo and Mew together, while Marshadow had vanished. Misty and Brock were unconscious, causing Ash to feel a surge of worry.
"Mew!" Mew sighed in relief, seeing Ash awake, and explained the situation, mentioning its intention to modify the memories of those involved.
"I see..." After listening to Mew's explanation, Ash nodded in understanding and looked at Mewtwo. He hadn't expected the situation to resolve in this manner.
"Memory modification is fine..." Ash wasn't opposed to altering memories in this instance. Mewtwo's existence was best kept secret, especially from Team Rocket.
Ash even wished Mew and Mewtwo could modify Team Rocket's memories, preventing them from pursuing Mewtwo again.
"In that case, go ahead..." Ash sat on Pidgeot's back, smiling faintly, and prepared for the impending memory modification. Even if his memories were altered, he believed he wouldn't forget Mewtwo's existence.
His only concern was whether this process would erase his past life memories, which were precious to him.
"Mew!" Sensing Ash's worry, Mew reassured him that it wouldn't affect his other memories. It explained that the modification was targeted specifically at the events surrounding New Island.
It would make people forget why they had come to the island and why they had gathered in Old Coast City. While this wouldn't completely erase the incident's impact, Mew and Mewtwo would gradually work to ensure everyone forgot the true reason behind it.
"It's okay, I trust you!" Ash smiled at them and closed his eyes, ready for what was to come.
Mewtwo was slightly taken aback, gazing at Ash with a complex expression. It hadn't expected Ash to trust it so readily, especially after it had attacked him.
"Before you start, I have something to say..." Ash spoke without opening his eyes, facing Mewtwo's direction and giving a thumbs-up. "Mewtwo, you are truly powerful. I hope to have a chance to meet you again in the future. When that time comes, I'll challenge you with my Pokémon once more!"
"You are the strongest Pokémon I've ever seen!" Ash grinned heartily.
In the dormitory of the Old Coast City Pokémon Center, Misty and Brock woke up in a daze. As Misty stirred, Togepi, who had been playing with Pikachu, abandoned Pikachu and happily jumped into Misty's arms, chirping excitedly.
"What time is it...?" Misty yawned sleepily, feeling exhausted. After stretching, she hugged Togepi and looked at Ash, who was standing by the window.
"It's already night," Ash replied with a smile.
"What? We slept all day?" Brock was surprised, then realized the situation outside. He had assumed the hurricane and rain were the reason for their unconsciousness, but it was simply nighttime.
"Maybe we were just too tired," Ash shrugged.
"By the way, haven't we left the harbor yet?" Misty asked, then paused, trying to remember why they had come to Old Coast City in the first place.
"No, the hurricane and rain were too heavy, and all the ships stopped sailing. Now the storm has passed, but the organizer canceled the banquet," Ash explained with a hint of regret.
"By the way, I remembered that a Trainer wanted to hold a banquet before the Indigo Plateau Conference, inviting Trainers who had obtained eight Badges," Brock gradually recalled.
"In that case, wasn't it a waste of time for us to come here?" Misty said with some dissatisfaction. They had rushed all the way, only for it to end like this.
"Was it a waste of time...?"
Ash paused for a moment, then looked back out the window, towards the direction Mewtwo and Mew had left.
After sending everyone back to Old Coast City, Mewtwo and Mew had departed without delay to manage the aftermath and alter everyone's perceptions.
Ash's memory remained intact; he still remembered everything. Mew and Mewtwo were surprised by this but chose to let it go, trusting that Ash wouldn't reveal the truth.
Lowering his head slightly, he looked at the pink Z-Crystal on the Z-Ring on his left wrist. Unexpectedly, Mew hadn't taken back its Mewnium Z. Did this mean it had acknowledged him?
Ash smiled faintly and looked out of the window again. This matter was over. Next, he had to prepare well for the upcoming Indigo Plateau Conference!
