Ash's focus sharpened as Geodude prepared to unleash another "Bulldoze". His pupils contracted slightly, assessing the situation.
He knew all too well that the attack Geodude was about to use was the kind that Beedrill struggled to endure head-on.
The stakes were high, and Ash's mind raced. He had to find a way to minimize the damage and turn this around.
"Beedrill, back up and hide behind the rock!" Ash commanded, his voice steady yet tense.
He knew this move wouldn't stop Geodude's momentum outright, but it would buy some precious time to analyze the battlefield and strategize.
Beedrill buzzed in compliance, retreating swiftly and positioning itself behind a large rock as the shockwave from Geodude's attack erupted across the arena.
When the "Bulldoze" landed, the ground trembled violently, shattering rocks and sending debris flying in all directions.
Thankfully, the large boulder provided shelter for Beedrill and absorbed most of the impact.
Even so, part of the shockwave reached the Pokémon, knocking it backward slightly.
Beedrill winced as it struggled to maintain its balance, the powerful attack clearly draining its stamina.
"Beeee…" Beedrill groaned in pain, its vibrant yet weary eyes tinged with fear.
It felt the crushing force of Geodude's raw power, and Ash knew that a few more hits like that would spell the end of their battle.
Geodude, however, wasn't coming out unscathed either. The effects of Beedrill's earlier "Twineedle" were beginning to show.
Purple bubbles of toxic energy shimmered faintly around Geodude's rocky body, indicating the poison was steadily chipping away at its strength.
No matter how strong a Pokémon was, poison wasn't something it could simply shrug off.
Despite this advantage, Ash couldn't afford to stall indefinitely. He could see that Brock wasn't going to let up.
Ash's opponent was a skilled Gym Leader, fully capable of finding a way to end the battle.
"Geodude! Use "Bulldoze" again!" Brock shouted, his voice firm and commanding.
"BANG!" Geodude slammed its fists into the ground once more, sending another shockwave rippling powerfully across the rocky battlefield.
"Beedrill, keep moving back! Hide behind that rock!" Ash called hastily, his mind working quickly.
He had started to gauge the range of Geodude's shockwaves during the earlier attacks. If Beedrill stayed at least thirty meters away, the shockwave's effects could be minimized.
Obeying swiftly, Beedrill darted backward and positioned itself behind another rock.
The Bulldoze shockwave still grazed Beedrill, causing minor fatigue, but thanks to the increased distance, the damage was much less severe this time.
"Have you figured out the flaws in my strategy already?" Brock remarked, his tone slightly impressed but cautious.
It had become evident that Ash was analyzing Geodude's attack range and adapting quickly.
As the battle dragged on, the strain on both sides became visible. Beedrill was growing weary from dodging the relentless barrage of ground-shattering attacks, while the poison continued to whittle away at Geodude, sapping its physical energy and morale.
Brock frowned. He couldn't afford to keep waiting around either. "Think, Brock, think…" he murmured under his breath.
He had to shift his approach quickly if he wanted to maintain control of the match.
Meanwhile, Ash had a plan forming in his mind. "Beedrill, use "String Shot" as you retreat!" he commanded.
While Beedrill wasn't equipped with any long-range offensive moves, Ash knew that "String Shot" could at least slow Geodude down and potentially buy them some time.
Beedrill responded with newfound energy, firing streams of sticky silk toward Geodude as it backed away.
Brock's frown deepened. This tactic forced Geodude to dodge or be trapped, making it harder to close the distance effectively.
"Geodude, dodge!" Brock called urgently. Though Geodude managed to evade the sticky strings, its movements were becoming slower and less controlled due to the poison's increasing effects.
The rocky terrain, already damaged from earlier attacks, also made maneuvering difficult.
Ash noticed this and smirked. "He's losing momentum," he thought, his confidence starting to rise.
Brock wasn't done yet, though. "Geodude, use "Rollout"! Close the gap!" Brock shouted, shifting to a more aggressive tactic.
Geodude curled into a ball and began rolling at high speed, aiming straight for Beedrill.
"Beedrill, fly up!" Ash shouted, his voice louder and more decisive this time. The unexpected command caught Brock off guard.
Beedrill shot upwards, narrowly avoiding Geodude's rolling charge. As Geodude barreled across the ground, unable to alter its course mid-move, Ash seized the opportunity.
"Beedrill, "Twineedle"! Now!" Ash commanded sharply.
Beedrill's movements became sharp and precise as it turned itself toward the rolling Geodude, closing in with twin stingers glowing fiercely. With remarkable agility, Beedrill dove diagonally, evading Geodude's roll entirely while landing its attack cleanly.
"Bang! Bang!" The "Twineedle" strikes landed on Geodude's rocky body, managing to push it back slightly despite its natural bulk.
While it wasn't a critical hit, the precision and power of Beedrill's strikes were enough to deal considerable damage.
The crowd let out a collective gasp at the sudden shift in momentum. The glimmers of strategy and skill on display were earning admiration from everyone present.
Misty cheered from the sideline, her voice ringing out above the noise. "You've got this, Ash! Keep it up!"
Brock's face hardened with determination. He couldn't deny that Ash had turned the match in his favor, but as a Gym Leader, giving in wasn't an option.
With both trainers pushing their limits, the atmosphere in the arena grew tense. Each move carried immense weight, and the battle was far from over.
