บท 75: Chapter 75 : I'm Never Alone
Baki's expression was calm, but his eyes were showing confusion, besides the fact that the boy in front of him just summoned Toads with wings, he was also confused about how he did it, he was sure that that wasn't the summoning jutsu.
"You're a fool if you think you can stop me," he said, drawing his blade, the wind around him shifting with deadly intent. "I've killed far than the days you have lived kid."
'Wow, that was the cheekiest line I heard after coming here, there is no way that his kill count is even one-third of that. But whatever... I don't have to argue with him anyway.' Shika narrows his eyes hearing this and sighs internally.
Shika's chakra flows through his body. He could feel the presence of his shikigami waiting within the shadows, ready to strike. This was another one of his Ten Shadow's trick he learned during his training, rather than outright summoning the shikigami, he can morph his shadow to draw the power of the shikigami directly in the shadow, is fast though not as strong as actually summoning the Shikigami's.
Without warning, Baki moved. In a blur, he was upon Shika, his blade slashing through the air with the force of a gale. Shika barely managed to dodge, immediately opening his Sharingan again seeing how fast Baki was, it was good that it was dark so his eyes were hidden to some degree, that and a little Genjutsu upon the contact of his eyes was enough to hide his Sharingan for the time being.
Rolling to the side the blade sliced through the rooftop tiles, sending shards flying.
"I've learned a lot recently," Shika muttered to himself as he stood up, catching his breath. "Time to put it to the test."
He quickly formed hand signs, his chakra surging as he activated his newly learned water-style technique. "Water Release: Water Bullet" he shouted, summoning a torrent of water which he drew from Max Elephant's power.
Baki leapt into the air, avoiding the water bullet, but Shika was ready. He had already set his trap. As soon as Baki landed, Shika's shadow stretched forward, intertwining with the darkness of the night. "Shadow Possession Jutsu!" Shika called, his shadow latching onto Baki's.
For a moment, it seemed like Shika had him, but Baki's chakra flared as he smirked.
'Tch, holding up a jonin is still too much for me.' Shika can't help but curse internally.
With a grunt of effort, Baki broke free from Shika's shadow, it wasn't easy for Baki either. Shika grits his teeth. "Of course, that would be too easy," he muttered.
Baki charged again, his blade gleaming in the moonlight.
"Snow," Shika shouted and instantly the white dog rushed at Baki hearing this. And that wasn't it either, because eight now only Baki realized those earlier summon toads were fast, he quickly surrounded him.
The dog launched at Baki, snarling as it closed the distance. Baki swung his sword, trying to cut them down, but this was when those toads acted up, their long tongue with blinding fast speed, warped around Baki's hands, stopping him on the spot.
Shadow swiftly attacked, snapping at Baki's arm. Baki managed to fend them off with the help of a replacement, but the distraction was enough for Shika to prepare for his next move. That was the best part about Ten Shadow it gives numbers an advantage.
Shika quickly formed more hand signs, feeling the familiar pulse of chakra in his body. "Genjutsu: Phantom Dance!" He focused his chakra, casting the illusion around Baki. The rooftop around him seemed to ripple and change, the shadows distorting and multiplying.
Baki blinked, his vision blurring as multiple copies of Shika appeared around him.
Normally any jonin would find out that they were in a Genjutsu but the illusion cast by the help of Sharingan is obviously better, harder to spot.
He slashed at one, but his sword passed through it harmlessly. "An illusion," Baki growled, trying to shake it off. But every time he focused, more Shika clones appeared, moving faster and faster around him.
While Baki was distracted, Shika prepared his finishing move.
'This one still remains my strongest Shikigami still date, the only problem is that I can't summon the entire Shikigami without destroying some houses here. Though Partial summoning is all I need for you.
"Now!"
He called, and the serpent lunged from the shadows, wrapping itself around Baki before he could react, its enormous coils binding him tightly.
In his training, he long learned how to reduce the snake size, but it still remains a little too big to summon it casually.
Baki struggled, but the serpent's grip tightened, cutting off his air. For a moment, Shika thought he had won, but Baki's eyes glinted for a second before he popped up.
'Fuck, a clone, I honestly thought I got him that time.' Shika can't help but grumble.
Shika stumbled back as Baki stormed toward him, blood trickling from his mouth.
'So he barely dodged that attack, huh, that means the serpent poison will be acting up soon.'
Shika knew he too was running out of time like Baki though, Hayate's condition wasn't too good.
"Sigh...
But that was when Baki appeared again and it seems to be moving towards Gekko as well. It was the most commonly used tactic in battle, taking hostage, he certainly didn't have to, he was strong there but why pointlessly fight when he could just end the fight by taking that proctor hostage.
And seeing this Shika smirked, 'Got the sucker.'
Just as Baki was close enough to Baki, from Gekko's shadow came out my other divine dog, shadow.
Even earlier the dog was barely visible thanks to his colour and this being night, but later on when Baki wasn't looking he went inside Gekko's Shadow.
He wasn't just guarding Hayate, but he was also a trap for Baki. When upon seeing that the dog wasn't there anymore he immediately planned to take Hayate hostage.
If only he knew that both Shika and his shikigami could enter into the shadows. That's why information is too damn important in the Ninja world.
With information, even strong enemies can be defeated, and at the same time if one doesn't have enough information on the enemies, even a Genin can defeat a Kage.
After all, in the end, as long as that kunai can cut the kage neck he will die, no matter how strong he or she is.
Shadow directly went for Baki's neck, and he was so fast at jumping from the shadow that Baki was completely caught off guard.
Baki felt the hold on his neck and his eyes widened, his windpipe was instantly crushed. He tried to shake off the dog but his body instantly went weak.
"Give up, it's over!" Shika said as he saw the struggle Baki was putting in even after his neck was completely grabbed by Shadow, and simultaneously his movements were restrained by the toad's tongues.
Shika stood above him, his chakra nearly drained, he didn't start with full chakra in the first place.
Baki's eyes started to widen within seconds as he was gasping for air right now, he tried hard to move but those damn long tongues from toads were holding him like iron chains.
"Yes I am not that strong alone, but that's the interesting thing you know...
I am never alone...

Some might say that this fight was incorrect, technically Baki should be stronger than Shika but I just wanted to express this one thing, it plan corrently even stronger enemies can be defeated, its just being able to catch other off guard is hard.
Otherwise majority of the ninja are very similar to normal humans, they will die if a good attack lands on them.
