บท 15: Itachi Uchiha

The second year at the academy started a few months ago. The usual class lecture ended, and now Yuta has a lunch break before the next class. As everyone starts leaving the classroom, Hideto, as usual, turns to Yuta and ask, "Yuta, are you coming?"
That was just the normal everyday routine in the academy for Yuta to spend the lunch break seating at the grass outside, usually in the company of Hideto and Shingo.
As Yuta stands up and starts to follow Hideto, he glanced at Shingo "Come, let's go outside, don't sit in the class all day." Shingo silently stand up and following the group outside with his usual expressionless face.
While Yuta don't really interested in making friends because of how he sees other kids as just immature and stupid children they are, with brainwashing on top of that, Its actually is not that bad with clan kids, at least with those that is not as arrogant and prideful like the Uchiha and Hyuga guys from his class.
'Those two Hyuga guys are really something! They are both from a branch family and didn't know or want to know anything other than their beloved Gentle Fist. When they returns to their clan compound, they are probably keeping their heads down and become quiet, but the second they enter the academy – they become so arrogant and badmouthing everything and everyone that is not related to their clan or the other big clans…'
'That scenes are always looks so ridiculous to me to the point so I have problems to keep myself from laughing out loud. They are just no-name nobody cannon fodder, and a slaves of the Hyuga main family on top of that, but man, they are loud.'
As the Yuta's group arrives and settles at their usual place in the shadows of the trees at the academy park, everyone grabs their lunch and starts eating. Yuta grabs the ration bar and starts chewing on it.
Hideto looks at him with annoyance, "Yuta, how you can eat that crap with a straight face all the time? I tried it a couple times and it tastes like dirt or clay!"
Yuta looks back at Hideto with his usual calm and neutral demeanor, "It's healthy and fulfilling, it's not made to be tasty." Yuta said while continuing to chew his food.
Hideto, with expression of slight disgust looks at Yuta, then turns to Shingo, "Hey Shingo, tell him it's disgusting, why he not brings normal food?" Shingo looks up with his normal blank face and said in a neutral tone "It is healthy indeed."
Hideto looks at Shingo with disbelief and betrayal on his face, then turns away from them "Humph… Why I even ask you…"
As Hideto looks away and continues eating, it becomes quiet.
Yuta looks up and observes the clouds. These small peaceful moments helps Yuta to relieve his build up stress from constant training, studying and worrying about his well-being in his new life.
After some time as everyone finished their lunch, Hideto suddenly spoken, "Hey, is that Itachi Uchiha over there, why is he seating there alone all the time?"
In the distance there are a lot of academy students spending their lunch break, but among them there is an empty space with no one around, and in the center of that space is Itachi seating and looking in the distance with somewhat blank but serious expression.
Yuta turns his head and looks at Itachi.
'Itachi Uchiha, huh… In the anime he was already somewhat grown up, but here he looks very similar to Sasuke, but more mature and less stupid and his face a little bit different. How old is he now? Should be around 6, just like me, but he looks a bit older than me, it is interesting how he ended up in the class below while he is older.'
"I heard about him" Hideto spoken with envious look, "Everyone is talking about him this days! They say that Itachi is so talented that there is a huge gap between him and everyone else in his class! They say that he is the most talented student in the whole academy history… Doesn't look that good to me…" Hideto looks away from Itachi, slightly annoyed, "It's only been three months since he enrolled the academy and everyone is already talking only about how good Itachi Uchiha is, that just ridiculous!"
As Yuta continues to look at Itachi, he thinks, 'Well he is talented, no doubt about that. Hm… Interesting, should I…?' As Yuta thinks that, Itachi suddenly turns his head in the Yuta's direction and looks at him straight in the eyes.
'Hm? His expression seems neutral, but somehow he looks lonely. Well, why not?'
"Hey Hideto" Yuta spoke without looking away from Itachi, "You talk a lot about Itachi, why not just go and look for yourself if he is that good as you speak?" Yuta said as he stands up and starts going in the Itachi's direction. "Shingo, come with us to" He spoke as he continue going.
Shingo silently stands up and follows Yuta with indifference. As both of them starts to walk away, Hideto has shocked look as he saw them go.
"Hey! Are you seriously going to Itachi just like that? I mean, he is the most talented guy that everyone talking about, how you can simply go to him just like that?!"
But nonetheless, Hideto also stands up and quickly catches up with others.
As Yuta goes in the Itachi's direction, followed by Shingo and Hideto, he continues to look directly in to Itachi's eyes. As Yuta continues to walk, other students in the park starts looking at Yuta's group approaching Itachi with curiosity and whispering among themselves.
Other students at the park are definitely misunderstood Yuta's group intentions, thinking that there is some conflict among them.
As Yuta comes closer he thinks, 'How do I start the conversation with Itachi? With his personality, I doubt that I should be too formal or polite. Well, let's see how it goes.'
As Yuta come close to Itachi he spoke with calm and neutral voice, "Hey, you are Itachi, right? My name is Yuta, and they are Shingo and Hideto. Mind if we join you?"
Itachi didn't change his expression, but his eyes looks a little surprised. After a few seconds he calmly replied, "Sure".
Yuta sat down on the grass alongside with Itachi, Shingo and Hideto also sat close to them.
As everyone sat down, the other students around was surprised, no one's anticipate such anticlimactic turn of events.
"Well", Yuta looked at Itachi with curiosity, while Itachi is still looks a little surprised that he was disturbed like that, "We heard a lot about you Itachi. Hideto said that you are the most talented student in the academy's whole history. You must be training all day long to achieve something like that. Tell me, Itachi, what motivates you to do such a thing?"
'As I remember, Itachi had experienced war at the young age and becomes pacifist. I don't remember when exactly that happened but the third shinobi war is already over, so it must be already happen to him in the past. And he is only 6 or 7 now, and he is already experienced war.'
'Damn this world, I should always remember in what kind of world I am right now! There is bloodshed everywhere, I should remember that and not become soft and naïve. I'm still thinking like a normal person from my previous world and not like a shinobi of this world. But this will change as soon as I graduate and go on missions I guess.'
Hearing this sudden question, Itachi becomes even more surprised. Not every day he experiences events when strangers comes to him and asks him about his motivations!
But after thinking a little bit he replies with somewhat neutral and mature tone, "I want to become strong to prevent the wars from happening."
Hideto looks at Itachi with a surprised expression but stays silent, feeling a bit anxious around Itachi, while Shingo looks as indifferent as always.
"To prevent wars, huh…" Yuta looks up at the clouds with thoughtful expression as he continues in a calm manner, "That a big goal you have there. If someone else told me that I would laugh at them, but you, maybe you can actually achieve something like that…"
Itachi's mood hearing that is brighten up a little, as he also looks up at the clouds and said, "Thank you, Yuta, you are the first person who said something like that to me."
As Yuta continues looking up at the clouds, time passes in silence, he thinks 'Now that I think about it, Itachi is probably somewhat naïve and idealistic person, only someone like that can be manipulated in to killing his whole family and clan. Should I intervene in this scheme and change the upcoming events of Itachi killing his clan?'
'Well, why should I do that? Just to prevent a lot of people from dying and Itachi with Sasuke getting such a cruel fate? Well, maybe I can do it just like that, but it's not like I have the good solution to the problem. After all, Uchiha clan will be preparing a coup.'
'And if that coup will happen, even more people might die, and another shinobi war can also start because of that. So currently even if I want to intervene in this event, it's not like I have any good solution to that.'
'As I remember, Itachi would be 13 when he kills his clan, so there is a lot of room for me to do things, right?'
"Hey Itachi, how old are you right now?" Yuta suddenly asked.
"Seven"
'Hm, he is indeed older than me…'

[AN: Well, I re-read my previous chapters and I don't really like how they are MC's thoughts-heavy and theory-heavy, so now I'm trying to improve my writing style and make story a more alive, add more interactions between the characters and stuff like that. I hope the story becomes better with that.
Someone in comments mentioned that Itachi's age is wrong. I have to tell, that I did math before everything, on naruto.fandom site it's stated, that Itachi was born on June, 5 years before Naruto, join academy at 6 on April, so timeline and ages should be fine here. If it's not - well, it's too late now to change anything anyway.
