Lumen was able to take the panthers down in one shot each, while they could barely even lay a scratch on him. Their only effective strategy against him was their usage of their numbers against him, which only hindered him slightly as it only increased the effort he had to put in to kill them.

This was the reason why it took so long for him to wipe the pride of panthers out. When the chase ended between them, the panthers stood no chance and Lumen didn't bother running anymore when he sensed that he gained the advantage.

In the end, all of the panthers turned into experience for Lumen to continue his levelling spree throughout the tutorial.
