บท 59: Chapter 59

When the last trace of hellfire poured into the wand and disappeared, the subspace created by the demons collapsed, restoring the alley to its original state. What remained was merely a messy alley, devoid of any signs of magic. Abel realized that the intense battle had occurred within the demons' conjured subspace, leaving no lasting impact on the physical realm.

Taking out the hanging ring, Abel opened a portal and returned to the roof of his building. Before the battle, he had packed all the desserts into his bag to protect them from the chaos. The last thing he wanted was to face Terea and confess that her treats had been destroyed in a magical skirmish.

As Abel stepped through the portal, it closed behind him, vanishing into the air.

Not long after, a blazing motorcycle screeched to a halt at the entrance of the alley. The Ghost Rider paid no heed to the curious stares of pedestrians and the honking vehicles as he dismounted and walked into the alley. He sensed the lingering remnants of hellfire, deep in thought, before leaving the scene and ignoring the police warnings that arrived shortly after. He vanished into the night on his motorcycle.

To ordinary people, the battle in the alley would have seemed non-existent, but for those attuned to magic, it shone like a beacon in the darkness. Abel's ability to summon and control hellfire, even with difficulty, marked him as a figure of significant power. Among the magical community in New York, being able to wield such authority over hellfire was extraordinary, a mark of prowess that every wizard aspired to but few achieved.

Ancient One, standing atop the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York, was among those watching.

"Master Ancient One , what's the status of Master Abel?"

Not all mages could traverse space to witness Abel's battle against the demons. Only those with sufficient strength could dare to observe such events.

"Daniel, you can rest easy. Abel has dealt with the Earth Demons and their minions on his own," Ancient One replied.

Daniel's initial surprise gave way to incredulity, and finally to admiration. He had no doubt about Ancient One 's words or Abel's capability in overcoming such formidable foes.

"I never expected he could achieve this alone."

With a smile, Ancient One admitted, "I must confess that I underestimated him. I had intended to assist, but it appears that Master Abel can handle these threats independently."

"He's truly remarkable. A mage of only seventeen years old, defeating a significant demon all by himself. He is worthy of the Saint Van Gonzal contract," Daniel acknowledged.

"Indeed. The next step is to locate the Witch Heart Demon and eliminate him once and for all. As for Master Abel, I will contact him personally."

With that, Ancient One ceased her conversation and turned, using the teleportation gate to return to Kama Taj.

Abel sat at his desk, the wand resting on the shelf nearby.

His left hand maintained a sphere of flame, within which a small piece of silver—no larger than a nail—melted into a hot liquid. With careful manipulation of his magic, the silver transformed into a thin wire, infiltrating the cracks on the wand and beginning the repair.

The wand's material had proven inadequate, barely sufficient for its intended purpose. Its positive energy properties had caused significant conflict and interference during the use of the Fiendfyre spell. The summoning of hellfire had particularly strained the wand, leading to the cracks he now sought to mend.

Since he lacked a second wand, Abel had no choice but to repair the existing one. However, he realized that using black magic or even neutral magic that leaned toward black magic would expedite the wand's deterioration. If he attempted to cast Fiendfyre again, it could lead to complete destruction.

Once the silver wire had filled the cracks, Abel condensed the remaining liquid silver into a ring and placed it around the damaged area of the wand, reinforcing it with ancient magical symbols. The restoration was complete. As long as he refrained from using black magic, the wand could handle normal white or neutral magic without harm.

A new wand was now essential.

While he could perform many spells without a wand, particularly after learning magic from Kama Taj, the wand served as an amplifier of his abilities—much like Thor's hammer or Captain America's shield. Abel could fight and cast magic without it, but wielding the wand heightened his power significantly.

He contemplated inviting Ancient One to join him in hunting a dragon after this encounter. He believed her assistance would be invaluable. As long as the dragon wasn't from Kunlun, he felt confident about their chances of success.

If he could obtain a dragon heartstring from the Kunlun dragon, he speculated that a wand crafted from it would enable him to face nearly any foe on Earth. However, he recognized that daydreaming wouldn't make it feasible. The dragon of Kunlun was a formidable creature, at least as powerful as Ancient One.

While such thoughts were pleasant to entertain, there was no need to dwell on them further; the chances of success were slim at best!
