บท 5: 5 - Thief William
It was night time and the sky was obviously dark with few stars twinkinking a beautiful sight.
Unlike the Foosha Village ,the atmosphere in the Goa Kingdom was still bustling as various establishments were still open for business like restaurants and red light district.
William stood on roof of the building of security guards near the gate and scoffed in disdain as he gazed at the nobles who had totally haughty expression on their faces.
There were two main cities inside Goa kingdom. One where merchants and the rich lived and other where nobles had build their grand mansions. William was currently inside the merchant one and he did not plan to visit the Noble one today either.
It was not like he was afraid of the tighter security there. In fact he was confident that no one would even notice him if he did not lose his concentration while sneaking in.
The reason William chose today as the day of his thief debut was because in ten or so minutes from now , an auction would be held in the most luxurious auction house of the Goa Kingdom. It was located at the edge of the Merchant city. Various nobles from other kingdoms also came to Goa Kingdom today to attend the auction.
William was not interested in the auction as he had snooped on conversations here and there and confirmed that slaves would be auctioned there. William felt disgusted by the act but could do nothing to change the mindset of these people.
He planned to rob the treasury of the auction house clean and free the slaves if he could. Well he would just hand over keys of their cuffs and rest would depend on the slaves themselves. William did not have resources to take care of them nor did he have a hidden base. Well he did not plan to make one in near future either. William was not a saint so giving them the keys was limit of the kindness he could show them.
In the cover of the night , Wiliam effortlessly jumped over the roofs of the buildings while heading towards the auction house. He was wearing full black clothes and even his face was covered with a black scarf. Only his eyes black eyes could be seen if one took a very close look at his face.
Finaly after hopping over roofs for three minutes, Willam arrived on the roof of the auction house. It was a large four storey building and was decorated with various shiny stones and metals. Clearly showing off their wealth.
William crouched and looked at the position of the hosts near the big entrance door. There were still many people being escorted inside the building as there was still time before the auction started.
William was tempted to steal the belongings of these trash nobles and merchants as they wore luxurious clothes and carried bags which should be filled with money and jewelry. Still he crushed those thoughts because the task would be almost impossible with his current speed and stealth skills.
William turned back and started walking soundlessly towards the sole door on the roof. He looked around and did not spot any sort of surveillance shit like Den Den mushi. So he just broke the lock on the door with a punch while being careful to not produce any loud sounds. So he covered the place with a cloth first.
The first step was completed more easily than he had thought as he had successfully infiltrated inside the building. The stairs were dark but William took few seconds to adapt his vision and casually started walking on the wall while paying attention to the situation downstairs.
His steps did not produce any sound and only some light blue energy coating could be seen on the bottom of his shoes which were sticking on the wall. Yes! He had long since mastered the art of tree walking and water walking because it was way easy for him due to the Perfect Chakra Control perk.
Like a phantom, Wiliam looked at the unsuspecting guards from the ceiling with cold and emotionless eyes. In fact he was feeling rage inside his heart and was barely controlling it.
There were only two tall and buffed guards who were dragging some young girls while pulling the chains. The pitiful and soulless eyes of the girls told William that they should have been tortured mentally or physically so they had given up hope.
William's heart ached but he chose to not save them now and ran away to the floor down while climbing on the ceiling. He could kill the guards with a snack attack easily but William could not risk of altering others by producing any kind of sound. There was a large possibility that the girls would scream and William did not want that to happen.
He made to the ground floor without much trouble as he encountered only two Den Den Mushi on the ceilings but it was easy to avoid them as he was also walking on the ceiling.
William's senses were on full throttle so he could hear the sounds of the guests and auction house personnel easily as he was standing on the ceiling behind the huge red curtain and on the other side was the Avenue.
This time Wiliam proceeded slowly as the number of guards in the backstage was quite large. As expected of the rich as they could easily afford to hire so many guards. Well many of them should be thugs though because of the wild aura William could feel oozing out from them.
The auction had already started by now but William still had not reached the treasury yet. It was normal as it's not like he had the layout of the building on him or something.
William did not care much about the items which were currently being auctioned as he already knew from eavesdropping on some conversations that first five items were just some weapons. Sure , those weapons could be high tech but William could care less about them. He was only interested in cash , gold , silver or even mysterious treasure like devil fruits.
Finaly William arrived in front of the thick iron door which should be the treasury as the two guards guarding the door looked more professional and powerful than the others which Wiliam had seen until now.
Wiliam stopped and carefully looked at the location of the Den Den mushi which was stuck right above the iron door.
This meant that if William wanted to open the door , he had no chances of doing that without being spotted. As the Den Den mushi could clearly cover the vision of this small corridor leading towards the iron door.
William's heart started beating faster as he was feeling nervous now. It could not be helped as he had no choice but to knock out or kill the guards quickly and then block the vision of Den Den mushi somehow fast. Only then he could think about opening the thick iron door.
William was confident that he could kill the guards with a fast sneak attack but he could not help but hesitate. After all he had not killed even a chicken in his past life. Since crossing over into this world , Wiliam had just single mindeny focused on training his sword skill and body. His combat experience was zero and obviously he had never killed yet.
What if the guards were actualy nice people?
What if they had a happy family ?
Such questions were swirling inside his mind and William felt more and more uncomfortable. Still he did not leave because William had already made up his mind to be selfish and free in this life. Now he just had to harden his resolve and complete the task before him.
