Max looked genuinely shocked at the revelation from his father. Aside from that, he had no other negative emotion registered on his face.

He paused again. Surprisingly, it wasn't hard to admit that he loved a man. The hardest part was reliving the painful look Bas gave him when Edgar decided for them both.

Max saw the look his father had. He was in so much pain just from the way he lowered his gaze trying to keep the tears inside.

The son placed his hand awkwardly on his father's. This warm gesture made Edgar smile as he found the courage to continue.
