บท 113: Chapter 113: Second and Third Round of Battle
As the two teams headed to their starting points, both teams conversed with each other.
Itsuka asked Momo why she didn't participate in the Beauty Pageant of the School Festival, and she responded that Aizawa probably didn't tell her because he felt it wasn't necessary, and even so, she was busy with band practice. Itsuka then told Momo about her feelings and the slight sense of inferiority whenever they were compared, irritating her.
This resulted in Itsuka telling Momo that she wanted to duke it out with her, which Momo accepted.
While Itsuka confronted Momo, Shihai did the same to Fumikage and claimed that they were both alike. Fumikage started talking about Shihai's quirk, causing Shihai to claim that they were fated to clash (chuuni way). Fumikage was surprised at his declaration but accepted it before walking past each other (chuuni way) and saying more chuuni stuff. All this happened while Toru was at the side, enjoying their chuuni conversation.
As soon as both teams were in position, Vlad King declared, "Start!! And now, Team 3, go get 'em, Kendo!"
Hanta asked Tetsutetsu, "What's Itsuka's position in Class1-B?"
Tetsutetsu replied loudly, "She's a go-getter, that's for sure! She is the class president, after all. She's got a quick wit, and she's great at keeping her cool and making decisions on the fly! And on top of that, she's got a cheerful personality that really brings the whole class together! If she wasn't around, the whole class would've been indoctrinated by Monoma! She's the big sister of Class B! That is the woman named Itsuka Kendo!"
Due to his loud voice, Shido managed to overheard their conversation and heard some weird things.
"Indoctrinated...? Vlad King?" Shido looked at Vlad King, who looked embarrassed, "Aren't you the teacher? What is this about your student indoctrinating people?"
Vlad King didn't reply to him and started his commentary as Fumikage's quirk, Dark Shadow, located the team of class B.
"Oh? It seems that Fumikage had increased the range of Dark Shadow during his Work Studies." Shido commented neutrally.
Before Class 1-A could make their move, Dark Shadow warned Fumikage that he had been hijacked by Shihai. Realizing that he was found out, Shihai immediately used Dark Shadow to attack Fumikage.
In retaliation, Momo fired some nets at him, but he dodged with his quirk Black. After accepting Shihai's challenge, Fumikage took off his cloak and revealed his new super move: Black Fallen Angel.
Shihai mocked Tokoyami's ultimate move name and continued to evade Class 1-A by moving within shadows. As Fumikage readied himself for a fight, Shihai suddenly appeared behind his real target, Yuga. Without waiting for them to react, Shihai grabbed Yuga by his cape and dragged him away.
"Your class is pretty sneaky..."
"Haha! All is fair in love and war! Villains wouldn't give you any chance to react," Vlad King laughed as he started complimenting his class once more.
Shido just shrugged his shoulders and continued watching the match.
Shihai thought that they'd never be able to catch up to him in a place filled with shadows for him to move through, but Fumikage proved him wrong.
He caught up to Shihai with his Super Move: Black Fallen Angel, and with this move, Fumikage was able to fly by having Dark Shadow hold onto him while being covered by Fumikage's cloak to provide better darkness.
Fumikage rescued Yuga away from Shihai, and Momo immediately instructed Yuga to fire off his Naval Buffet while Fumikage flew around to disrupt the positioning of the shadows.
Since Fumikage's cloak was covering it, Dark Shadow remained unaffected by the bright laser beams. With the warping of the shadows' shape, they took away all of Shihai's hiding spots, forcing him to surface.
Momo instructed Toru to catch him, but a mushroom popped up on Momo's nose as she does this. Watching the training area light up with the implication that Shihai's plan A failed, Kinoko readied plan B, which was to cover the playing field in Mushrooms with her quirk and grow them on Momo and Toru.
Kinoko helped her mushrooms grow by using spray bottles to humidify the area. With the mushrooms covering everything, Yuga lost sight of Shihai, who had already used his quirk to vanish into a black mushroom.
"Itsuka had devised her 1-B team's plan to take advantage of Shihai's Quirk against Fumikage's Dark Shadow. If this failed, Itsuka predicted the others would use Yuga's Navel Laser to counterattack. This would be the signal for plan b. What splendid predictions." Shido couldn't help but applaud Kendo for her intelligence and foresight.
"Now you know the power of my class!" Vlad King was proud of his class president while Midnight stood at the sight and moaned continuously.
'Out of every weird teacher here, she is definitely the weirdest...' Shido thought as he looked at Midnight, who was hugging herself and shivering from...excitement?
The light gave away Class 1-A's location, giving Manga and Kinoko the opening to barrage Class 1-A with their long-ranged Quirks.
Momo yelled out to her team to keep calm and regroup, but Manga used his Comic quirk to spawn a large, wall-like string of Katakana. It suddenly appeared out of nowhere, cutting Momo off from the rest of her team.
Yuga tried to blast the Katakana with his laser, but he realized that he couldn't damage it. Manga then spawned the onomatopoeia for humidity to help Kinoko's mushrooms grow faster.
Itsuka planned on isolating Momo to cut the brain off from her team, opting to crush her with raw power instead, believing that she could win if she managed to create an advantageous situation.
Now that Momo is entirely alone, Itsuka was able to launch a solo attack with her Big Fist. Momo responded in time and created a tungsten shield, but Itsuka crumpled it quickly, pushing Momo back.
"Tha's our Kendo!" Tetsutetsu cheered, but Shoto disagreed with his statement.
"If Kendo separated from Yaoyorozu from her team out of caution, then I think she's misjudged her. If she actually wanted to be cautious of Yaoyorozu, she should have crushed her four on one with her entire team's power right from the outset."
Just as Shoto spoke, Momo used her Creation quirk to generate a cannon, shocking Itsuka. But Momo didn't shoot at her but aimed the cannon at the wall-like Katakana. Thinking that she wanted to destroy the wall, Itsuka attacked Momo with a Double Jumbo Fist.
Momo managed to shoot despite the decisive blow, but it turned out that her objective was not to destroy the wall but to launch something over. Momo generated a rope to tether Itsuka to herself before losing consciousness while still attached to the cannon.
While the two girls were fighting, Fumikage tried to save Yuga from Shihai again but was held continuously back by Kinoko's mushrooms and Manga's words, allowing Shihai to imprison Yuga.
After getting bounced off the onomatopoeia and accelerating in a direction, Fumikage came across Toru. She was entirely covered by mushrooms and was gagging in disgust.
"Invisible girl!" Fumikage shouted in worry as he checked her condition. Seeing that she was safe for the time being, he began to think about how to win.
Just then, the thing Momo launched arrived, and it turned out to be a Yaoyorozu's Lucky Bag, which contained a pair of infrared goggles and three cans of ethanol, a fungal spray.
With the spray, Fumikage and Toru rid of the mushrooms that covered their bodies, ceasing to be a hindrance and allowing Toru to become invisible again. With the infrared goggles' help, Fumikage managed to locate Shihai and Kinoko, while Toru was able to ambush Manga by remaining hidden.
Shihai reported to Kinoko that he had already put Yuga in the cell when he suddenly saw Fumikage approaching them. Before both 1-B students could react, Fumikage attacked them with 'Abyssal Black Body Sabbath', defeating them.
Fumikage had Dark Shadow restrain Kinoko while he trapped Shihai in his cape. But before he thought that he had won, Fumikage started coughing.
"Although Komori has meager combat abilities, she is one to be feared. You slipped up, treating this as mere training, Tokoyami! You should have knocked her unconscious!" Monoma commented as he watched the mushrooms growing in Fumikage's lungs.
Meanwhile, Toru fought against Manga, landing multiple hits without issue due to her invisibility, as Manga could hardly defend himself. When she was about to win the match, she was grabbed by Itsuka with her quirk.
"Everything she created was done with a purpose as she looked ahead to what was coming next. I don't really feel like I won." Kendo sighed as she looked at the unconscious Momo tied to her and the cannon.
"The second set: A 4-0 victory for class B!" Vlad King announced as all four Class A team members were sent to jail.
After everyone returned to the stage, everyone has received the necessary treatment. Well, mainly in class A.
Class B only has bruises on their body, but class A had two unconscious people and one lung infection. Toru was the only one who got out relatively unscathed.
The medic bots took Momo to the nurse's office while complaining and gossiping about how humans are weak, with Kendo accompanying her. Yuga had already awoken and was currently resting.
Seeing that his class was all resting, Shido decided to tell them their mistakes later.
"That's some pretty extensive destruction," Shinso commented next to Aizawa as he looked at the destruction Manga and Kendo did.
"That's just how it is with hero course training. But they did destroy just a little too much." Aizawa replied before turning his head to Shido, "But we always have to only repair it once."
Shinso was curious about what Aizawa was talking about and listened attentively.
"Shido! Go turn back everything the way it was before."
"Eh?" Shido grumbled.
"The school is currently trying to save some budget. It's not easy to maintain everything in the area of a small city, you know?" Aizawa replied.
"Then don't make a school to the size of a city..." Shido muttered under his breath, but he still flew over to the site and started the temporary repair.
Aizawa said that it was only a 'temporary repair' because Shido's transformation wasn't permanent. The moment he lost consciousness or willed it, the transformation would be undone, and everything would return to its original state.
"Hmm...while Shido repairs the stage, I suppose we can take a short break." Aizawa decided, and Vlad Kings didn't have any problems with it.
Both classes once again sat down within their groups and started their discussion once more. After Izuku got called out by All Might, Shido had just finished transforming everything to its previous state, so Aizawa began the third match.
Everything was hectic, and everyone kept changing their opponents. Shido continued watching all his hard work of restoring the environment went down the drain as Todoroki released a ton of flames that were hot enough to melt the metals. And as if that wasn't enough, the ground was softened by Juzo, turning the land into a mud-like substance and sank everyone.
Shido noticed that Iida had gotten an upgrade for his quirk, though he could tell that the 'upgrade' wasn't easy for him as the engines were directly from his body. And upgrading it means pulling out the old engines and replacing them with a new one, or in this case, growing out a new and better engine.
Doing this was the same as pulling out your own bone as the engine was initially a part of Iida, so Shido couldn't imagine the pain Iida had gone through.
Soon after that, Mezo was pressuring Pony by himself and eventually stalled enough time for Mashirao to arrive and help Mezo out. After destroying various projectiles with his Tornado Tail Dance, Mashirao then grabbed Pony by her horns to keep her back.
Mezo told Mashirao to take her to the prison while Mashirao replied to him to help Shoto, but Juzo appeared behind Mezo, softening the ground.
Juzo sunk both his rivals under the ground and grabbed Mashirao. He tried to force Mashirao to release Pony, but Mashirao countered with his Fist of the Tail: Swamp Smack Spin. This helped Juzo and Mashirao get free, but Pony used some of her horns to send Mashirao into her team's prison. Then, Pony faced Mezo alone while Juzo went to help Tetsutetsu.
Shoto and Tetsutetsu continued their struggle, exceeding their limits, but neither could hold out for much longer. Just as Shoto was about to prepare to perform an unknown Super Move, he was suddenly stopped by Juzo, who had softened the ground with his quirk. Shoto is knocked unconscious when debris hit him on the head.
When Juzo was preparing to harden the ground to trap Shoto, Tenya rushed in and kicked Juzo in the face, breaking his mask and running off with the downed Shoto. The kick was so strong that Juzo began to lose consciousness.
However, Juzo wasn't going to go down without a fight, so Juzo decided to soften a large pipe and yelled at Tetsutetsu to push it with his last-ditch effort. Tenya tried to run away at full speed while carrying Shoto, but the pipe fell on top of him, trapping him. At the same time, both Juzo and Tetsutetsu also collapsed and were out cold.
Tenya Ida attempted to break free from the softened substance but can't due to his limbs being trapped under the tower.
Of course, Vlad King had to do his biased commentary, stating that Kaibara was the MVP of this battle since he had fought until his imprisonment, and his efforts had helped chip away at his opponent's power, causing Kaibara to feel irritated by his teacher's words.
Pony caught up to the field and grabbed her teammates and Shoto, but she was being chased by Mezo. She realized she couldn't turn around to fight Mezo and wasn't fast enough to deliver Shoto to the prison without getting caught.
So, deciding on the best choice, she rose to a height unattainable for Mezo and waited out the match to prevent her team from losing.
"The 20-minute time limit has passed! The third round is over!! The total amount of prisoners: one versus one! It's a draw!!"
