All fables have an origin. 8,000 years ago, a great Cataclysm threatened all life on Eos. Its moon was fractured and strewn across the night sky, the oceans shifted and swallowed the lands, and the inhabitants across Eos were forced to fight other-wordly horrors as reality itself was torn asunder. Over time, their dark history has been long-forgotten, until signs of a new Cataclysm begin to appear once again... Each future is dictated by the past. Katryna Bower, the runaway daughter of King Giliam Bower, is forced to return home after her mother dies suddenly and father is poisoned. Old traumas run deep however, and Katryna must confront her painful past and estranged family before she can uncover the twisted plot against her House. Only the strong survive. King Emery Blacktree agrees to end a bitter border dispute with the rival Seynards by marrying his only daughter to their despisable prince. Emery's objective is to maintain peace, but all is quickly shattered at the royal wedding as his wife's fears consume her and slanderous secrets are revealed. How far will Emery go to avoid a civil war? Every story has its beginning. Tomas and Rilan, two naive peasant boys from a small village up north, are conscripted into the army of the Broken Coast and thrown into the horrors of an invasion by a foreign empire. War isn't the only threat they will face, as they fight alongside an unforgiving captain and his barbaric men on a dangerous mission that will lead them into the very path of the coming Cataclysm and a strange girl who may hold all the answers.

“You, me… Cut that crap dude” Regina hissed. “Alright then… Let's play a game” Alvin smirked. His blue eyes radiating mischief. Slowly, Regina raised her head. The moment she saw his eyes piercing her pale skin, she turned away. “Most time I wonder why you look good. Only angels are met to be handsome not monsters like you” she scoffed. Alvin chuckled. He crouched beside her, leaning close, that their faces were just a few inches apart. “You just called your husband a monster” Alvin said, his hot breath fanning her cheeks. “You're not my husband dude, I'll rather die than marry you” she snapped. Running his hand through his curly hair, he smiled. "Want to hear the game?” “Spill” she snapped. Eyes fixed on the wall as she resisted the urge not to punch his flawless face. “You gonna fall on your knees in two weeks” Regina threw her head backward. After what seems like an eternity, she burst into an uncontrollable laughter, making Alvin brow to knot in a frown. “I'm ready to play Mr. Alvin” she smirked.

Unbeknownst to humanity, an asteroid twice as large as the one that ended the reign of dinosaurs is set on a collision course with planet Earth. In just over a year, all human life will be extinct, as well as most non-human life on Earth as well. That is, unless the Galactic Peace Committee helps to redirect the asteroid off of its course. Which they are more than willing to do, since Earth has wonderful biodiversity and a large race of sentient beings. So what's stopping them? Well, the GPC has been avoiding humanity for centuries as they wait for the human race to make peace amongst themselves, as no race is able to join or reap the benefits of the GPC unless they can first achieve peace without outside help. So, most of the GPC is content in letting humanity be erased from the universe. That is, until a single important member convinces them to give humanity a chance at proving themselves worthy. That chance comes in the form of an ordinary University student, who must spend one year in the GPC, and prove to the intergalactic community that Earth and its creatures are worth saving.
Mateo is your typical fire-boy. Criminal, argumentative, ambivalent. Ambition is something he's long forgotten. But when a star topples out of the sky and falls into his lap, it unlocks a Mantle—a strange device of miracles and growth. It looks suspiciously like a cape. If he wants to survive, he'll have to get stronger. He’ll have to navigate the muddy world of Mantled politics and break open the secrets at the very heart of everything. More than that—he’ll have to decide for himself what's right and what's wrong. Rubber Smoke is a cape progression fantasy—think Worm meets Akira. It features a dark and mysterious world, a rational, resourceful protagonist, and a set of complex factions at war. Progression is slow at first, as Mateo transitions from his old life to the new, and then takes off :).
