THE SECOND NOVEL IN THE SAKURA SERIES As we reenter the world of Chi Matesunei and Misaki Osanagi we find that things have very much changed for both of our main characters. Misaki is no longer the same kitsune she once was and Chi Matesunei is unrecognizable to himself, plagued by demons. As the two fight their internal battles, one common attempt on the emperors life brings the two face to face after almost a decade apart. when the mortal realm and the celestial plane become aware that the imperial regalia of Japan are not within the kings possession a hunt begins to find the holy objects. Misaki must find them before other envious gods hungry for power locate them and gain the power to rule over all gods, even the great deity herself; and the mortal realm overthrows her father, deeming him an unlawful Emperor in the eyes of the country. But will Misaki and Chi-san be able to form an alliance as strangers and former lovers to save her fathers kingdom, the country, and Takamagahara itself from destruction, or will it all fall to ruin around them.

At the end of the Edo period, where Samurai have all but gone extinct after their descent from managing the beautiful country of Japan Chi Matasunei, last son of the Soma Minimoto Samurai clan, buries his fathers body. After releasing his fathers spirit he sets out to fill his fathers long ago held position at the Emperors household. Misaki Osanagi is princess to the Japanese throne and only daughter to the great Emperor Okai. She has lived a sheltered life within the walls enshrined to her dear late mother. As Misaki worries for her future, an unexpected newcomer flips her world on its side. Odd dreams, vivid nightmares, and long harbored grudges challenge to ruin everything the two hold dear in their lives. A tiger and a fox engage in a dance of fate; One where the gods place their bets and their greed overpowers the world and the lives within. Can these two survive the journey to cultivation? Or will the fate of the gods intervene?
