As we reenter the world of Chi Matesunei and Misaki Osanagi we find that things have very much changed for both of our main characters. Misaki is no longer the same kitsune she once was and Chi Matesunei is unrecognizable to himself, plagued by demons. As the two fight their internal battles, one common attempt on the emperors life brings the two face to face after almost a decade apart.

when the mortal realm and the celestial plane become aware that the imperial regalia of Japan are not within the kings possession a hunt begins to find the holy objects. Misaki must find them before other envious gods hungry for power locate them and gain the power to rule over all gods, even the great deity herself; and the mortal realm overthrows her father, deeming him an unlawful Emperor in the eyes of the country.
But will Misaki and Chi-san be able to form an alliance as strangers and former lovers to save her fathers kingdom, the country, and Takamagahara itself from destruction, or will it all fall to ruin around them.
