Capítulo 21: Noah's Identity

Seeing the light streaming through the window, Sarah quickly glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already eleven o'clock! She hurried towards the bathroom but abruptly turned back, realising she had forgotten her towel.

As she regained her composure, her motion halted at the entrance of the bathroom. She turned around and gazed at the empty bed. It was the same as last time, Noah would leave early without her even noticing.

Blushing uncontrollably, she couldn't help but recall about the events of the previous night. They had been intimate once again. Acknowledging her own foolishness when it came to Noah, she let out a soft sigh. "Ah, whatever," she muttered to herself, deciding to push aside her thoughts and focus on taking a bath.

Sarah arrived at the office around twelve o'clock. Worried, she let out a sigh of relief when she noticed that no one was at the reception counter. As she entered the office space, she realised that everyone was missing. Feeling curious and concerned, she wondered if she had missed any important information. "Don't tell me they are already out for lunch?"

Hastily checking the office chat group, Sarah quickly put down her bag and took a seat at her desk. "Meeting?!" she exclaimed, abruptly standing up as she read the message that had been sent in the group as early as six in the morning. She had missed the message, and now she feared the consequences that awaited her. "Ah, what should I do?"

As she peeked at the meeting room door, it suddenly swung open, and her colleagues began to exit one by one. Sarah immediately hid herself inside her cubicle, praying that no one would notice her presence.

"Did you just arrive?" Maya asked from the neighbouring cubicle, giggling as she noticed Sarah trying to conceal herself. "The CEO is asking for you," she informed her.

"The director? Who?" Sarah was confused. As far as she knew, the CEO had been absent for months, abroad to handle some work that required his presence there.

Maya herself appeared puzzled, as they had already met the CEO. He had discussed it in the meeting just moments ago. "Didn't you meet him yesterday?"

"Me? When?" Sarah's eyes fluttered as she tried to recall the person she had encountered the day before. "Mr. Daniel?!" Her eyes widened in surprise. "He is the CEO?"

During their meal together yesterday, Daniel had acted like a regular staff member who had returned from a business trip. He had never introduced himself as the CEO.

Maya nodded, still giggling. "Yes, he's our CEO. Didn't you know?" She pointed at the organisation chart displayed on the wall. Walking closer to the board, Maya said, "Look here, it says Daniel Kim."

"Ah, silly me. I forgot the name," Sarah muttered, closing her eyes in frustration.

"Whose name?" Daniel's voice suddenly sounded from behind, startling both Sarah and Maya.

"Nothing, sir," Maya replied with an awkward smile and quickly returned to her desk.

"Miss Sarah, can you join me for a moment?" Daniel said, flashing a charming smile as he turned and walked towards his office.

Carefully taking her seat, Sarah's eyes secretly wandered, stealing glances at the room. It was her first time being inside this room, and she couldn't help but notice that it was nearly the same size as Noah's room.

"So, Miss Sarah," Daniel began his statement, his lips forming a composed smile. "I spoke with Noah, and he agreed to let you be my personal assistant while he is away."

"While he is away?" Sarah repeated Daniel's words, her confusion evident in her voice. She hadn't been aware of Noah's plans or the reason behind his absence.

"Yes, he will be away for a while," Daniel confirmed, assuming that Sarah had already read the news. "As you may have seen in the headlines, he is currently preparing for his wedding day and won't be able to come to work."

Her brow furrowed, and the words that had been lingering in her mind escaped her lips unconsciously. "Can a manager do that?"

Daniel's laughter filled the room as he heard her question. "You're absolutely right. It does sound quite unusual for a manager to be absent from work simply because he's preparing for a wedding, doesn't it?"

Sarah nodded, relieved that Daniel shared her sentiment. It seemed that her initial confusion was not unfounded.

"It's because he is the owner of this company," Daniel's smile widened as he revealed the fact. Sarah nodded, but a moment later, her eyes widened in realisation. "Wait, what?"

Daniel chuckled at her reaction, enjoying her surprise. "I understand it might come as a surprise to you. Noah prefers to keep a low profile, but he is indeed the one who holds the reins of this organisation. The son of the chairman of TEDA Group, that's why their marriage is getting the attention of the whole country."

Sarah's eyes widened in surprise and confusion. Struggling to comprehend the revelation that she heard from Daniel. She had been completely unaware of his true identity, and the realisation hit her like a sudden jolt of electricity.

The pieces of the puzzle started to come together in her mind. She had sensed that Noah came from a wealthy background, but she had never imagined him to be the son of the chairman of TEDA Group, the company she aimed to work for before. The news headlines about Grace, the woman Noah was supposed to marry and the daughter of the owner of Willbing Hospital, had made her believe that the media attention was solely due to her. It never occurred to her that Noah's own family background played a significant role in the exposure.

As this realisation sank in, Sarah's emotions swirled in a mix of surprise, confusion, and curiosity. She couldn't help but question why Noah had kept his true identity hidden from her.

Daniel, noticing the stunned look on Sarah's face, spoke up again. "I hope you will keep this a secret between us, as Noah is still concealing his identity."

"Ah, okay, sir," Sarah replied, her eyes still trembling with the weight of the information she had just received. She stood up, excusing herself as Daniel finished giving her instructions for the tasks she was supposed to handle that week.

"The heir of TEDA Group and the heir of Willbing Hospital," Sarah mumbled to herself, feeling a pang of pain in her heart as she walked back to her desk.
