Nia was the one who made sure of it but if he said that, she would wonder why her mother had been around more than four decades ago and he wasn't going to answer that question because it would lead to more questions.
"Oh," Imani murmured as she let herself relax and glanced at the door. Lucas and Karl were sleeping in Lucas' room and she had no idea if Lucas was asleep yet. If he wasn't, he could probably hear the both of them in here. Was he angry right now?
"Did you and mum already... take care of the problem?" she asked, raising her head to look at his face, and he opened his eyes as he took in a deep breath. His fingers got tangled in her curls as he began to run his hand through her hair while his other hand trailed over her arm.
"Yes. I only have to be worried about The Night Force now and this is the last place they would expect me to be so they wouldn't be finding me for a while now."
