Capítulo 193: Chapter 193: Half-Step Celestial

Although I told Elaine I had a few ways to possibly beat, or more accurately, stop the monster from entering this realm, the only option I really had was to utilize the royal elven cultivation manual's forbidden technique, which would enhance my cultivation base by sacrificing my remaining life-span, something I currently have in abundance considering I'm only twelve, and I could currently live for nearly an eon.

I'm sure while most would be opposed to such an idea of sacrificing their lifespan, I'm honestly not worried about that at all; even if I were to consume nearly all of my lifespan, I'd be fine since I know within a year I'll advance to a Divine Lord, which would increase my lifespan by several hundreds of millions of years. So I'm not worried about possibly dying from old age, and even if that were the case, we've got an uncountable number of treasures and resources in the royal treasury that can extend my life; what I'm worried about is whether I'll be able to force the monster back.

'The only reason Elaine and I even managed to survive an attack from a Celsital is that the monster was mainly preoccupied with keeping the portal open; if it weren't because of the portal, forcing it to divert most of its power, we'd be dead. Yet even still, we nearly died; the half-step chasm is truly dangerous.' Thought Elif with a frown while flying through the sky as he headed directly toward the monster, which he could see through his divine sense.

None of this would be a problem for concern if Elaine and I had a divine artifact, pill, or talisman; if we had just one of those, this would be dealt with easily. However, while I usually don't carry around such items within the empire, as I see no reason to, I do have a few in my dimension ring, well, at least I should've; last time I checked my dimension ring, which was just a few days before I entered this realm, I had a few celestial talismans and artifacts.

"Yet, for some reason, I can't seem to find them! I know for an absolute fact I had them, so why are they missing?" Muttered Elif with slight anger as he scanned the contents of his dimension ring again, finding hardly anything that would help his situation.

As much as it angered me, there was no point in dwelling on it anymore; Illumia has always said to stay calm in stressful situations. Besides, it was not like I had any time to think, as I'd just arrived near the portal only to see the monstrous purple arms slowly pry open the portal, allowing me to view more of its body, though I mainly focused on its ugly, three-horned head as it looked at me with its savage expression.

'I know Nether monsters come in all shapes and sizes, but this one looks oddly familiar to a Demon; whatever, I can think about that later. Right now, I need to stop its advances.' Thought Elif as he squinted his eyes and looked at the monster, which was already half visible.

I knew the monster in front of me had some form of intelligence; after all, even though when it first attacked, its target was Elaine, not me, it was going after the weaker of its two possible targets, signifying it had some level of intelligence, I just hoped it wasn't capable of complex thoughts. If its intelligence were on the level of even just a child, it would make this fight exponentially more difficult, and my already slim chances of succeeding would plummet.

Thankfully, though, it was too preoccupied with prying open the portal, which seemed to be using a substantial amount of strength, causing my presence to go unseen for now; while I'm not the type to sneak attack someone, this battle wasn't really fair, was it?

Reaching my hand forward, I summoned Hokori, who had escaped my grasp while I protected Elaine from the deadly attack. I was only forced to wait for a few seconds before I sensed an object heading right for me from the west; looking at it in the distance, I spotted a purple hilt with a black tassel and an incredibly polished blade capable of reflecting the light speedily flying through the air.

When Hokori arrived near me, I didn't have to do anything as the hilt rested perfectly in my hand, returning to its rightful place; while I would've inspected to see if the blade had maintained any damages, I saved that for later as I focused on the monster, which had managed to slightly enlarge the portal.

I knew, given my current strength, I wouldn't be able to harm the monster, so while somewhat reluctantly, I tightly grasped Hokori and activated the forbidden technique, and the instant I did so, I could feel my circulate through my body as it was morphed into Qi, which forcefully increased my cultivation base. Depending on how much of my lifespan I wish to lose, that will correlate to how much my strength improves; considering my opponent was a celestial, several cultivation bases higher than me, along with the half-step chasm, I didn't hold back.

As I used the forbidden technique to convert my lifespan into Qi, my cultivation base started rapidly improving, from a peak Divine to a Divine Lord, a few seconds later, a Divine King, then a Divine Emperor, then finally, after several seconds, my cultivation reached a peak Half-step Celestial. Unfortunately, I couldn't go any higher, as not only would it consume a colossal amount of my lifespan, I'd summon a heavenly Tribulation, and that is not something I'd be able to survive; in fact, my lifespan probably wouldn't even last long enough to experience the entire tribulation.

Still, even so, as I felt the Qi surge through my body and soul, I was astonished by the sheer power at my disposal; never once had I experienced such a massive jump in strength before. The difference is even more significant than when crossing a half-step chasm; I felt like no matter how many of my previous selves I would be forced to fight, I would always win, even if I had to fight millions. Of course, I'm exaggerating a little; my Qi would have long since been emptied by then; it was mainly just a figure of speech.

'Although I've gotten many times stronger, the monster is still more powerful, but it's not by as much as I would've thought; I just hope this will be enough; my lifespan isn't infinite after all.' Mused Elif as he eyed the monster, which was trying to sneak its way through the portal.

Tightly clutching my sword, I injected a colossal amount of Qi into it while coating it in the thickest and most potent sword aura I could muster, causing Hokori's blade to be engulfed in ethereal purple flames, which, at this point, were so dense they could be mistaken for actual flames. Bringing my arms above my head just as the monster was about to fully enter the realm, I slashed down toward it, causing an utterly massive purple sword wave to head right for the creature.

It seemed like my heavenly scar had finally managed to garner the monster's attention as it looked up at me or more like the incoming attack; I saw as it released one of its hands on the portal and outstretched it toward the dense purple sword wave. Yet, much to the monster's anger, despite the half-step chasm, the instant my attack landed atop its large monstrous palm, the creature couldn't stop my heavenly scar from forcefully pushing it back into its realm before it eventually managed to destroy my attack.

'Heh, it seems like chances aren't as low as I thought; while I won't be able to kill it, I'm now confident in keeping it at bay. However, the problem is still closing the portal before it can enter into this realm, not to just temporarily stop it.' Thought Elif as he looked at the monster, who had been forced somewhat back through the portal, which had shrunk since it was required to divert some of its strength to blocking Elif's attack.

Seeing as I had managed to push the monster back a good deal, I got closer to it and started firing Heavenly scars at the monster, who, for some reason, stopped blocking, which allowed for every blow to land atop its purple chest; though, my sword waves didn't do much to his body other than leaving behind shallow cuts, nothing that could actually be considered damage. I tried switching it up by using a royal elf's palm, fairy sword dance, and gyakusatsu, but compared to the heavenly scar, in which I was the most proficient, I wasted an excess amount of Qi when performing those techniques.

Having just significantly increased my strength and getting no time to gain some semblance of control over my Qi, when just using heavenly scars, I wasted Qi, and by using any other technique, I would end up wasting even more Qi in the process; so I decided to go with efficiency, since I didn't have much time, to begin with, and I needed as much of it as possible. Yet, even after attacking, except for the first attack, not once did the monster relinquish hold of the portal, which caused me to grit my teeth as I anxiously attacked even harder; still, as the minutes passed, my situation didn't change, despite the numerous cuts on its bloody body, it continued to keep the portal open.

'Dammit! This isn't working; I'm only wasting my life away at this point. How am I supposed to get this monster, no, him, off the portal?' Thought Elif with an ugly expression as he eyed the monster, looking at him with sadistic eyes full of intelligence.
