Silas took several steps forward as Tanner, and his pack walked away as if he were about to follow them. I took a couple of steps forward, wondering what he was doing, but suddenly, he spun around and sneered. I stumbled back.
“What the hell were you thinking coming here? And how the hell did you know—” Silas cut himself off, and his head snapped over to where Zayn stood. “You. . .” he trailed off.
“Now, wait a damn second—” Zayn started.
“Do you really want me to be that Alpha?” Silas said and growled. “Force you to bow down to every little command? Because I sure as hell can’t trust any of you!” Silas looked between Adriel, Zayn, and Dakota.
Zayn was pure white. Dakota was completely brown. Adriel was grey with brown specs.
Zayn stepped forward. “Look, I’m sorry, okay? I was just trying to do the right thing. The tribe has lost enough members over the years from bloodshed. And maybe I’m a little selfish, okay? I don’t want to lose my best friend.”
