Lise wasted no time flaunting her victory as we regrouped on the sidelines. She approached me with her usual smirk, brushing imaginary dust off her shoulders like she had just saved the entire world single-handedly.
"Well, Eileen," she began, her voice dripping with mock innocence, "looks like I managed to take down my opponent faster than you did. I mean, freezing the entire battlefield was a stroke of genius, don't you think?"
I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms. "You froze your partner, too, remember? He's probably still thawing out somewhere."
"That's just collateral damage," Lise said with a wave of her hand, clearly unbothered.
"The important thing is I finished the fight quickly and efficiently. Unlike some people who needed a dramatic firework display to deal with a single snake."
"Oh, please," I shot back. "You had a glorified teddy bear to fight. That thing practically rolled over for you."
