Chapter 20: Contract with Mikoto
_____
"Really? Congratulations! You finally achieved what you've always wanted!"
Mikoto beamed with happiness, genuinely delighted for Katsumi. She knew how much he had longed to practice in the past, but his physical condition had always held him back. Now that he was finally improving, she felt a sense of relief and joy for him.
"Katsumi, are you back? Come help serve the dishes—it's time to eat!"
Kaori's voice called out from the kitchen.
"Okay!"
Katsumi quickly responded and walked into the kitchen with Mikoto. Together, they helped bring the remaining dishes to the table.
As they all sat down to eat, Mikoto exclaimed, "Wow! Aunt Kaori, your cooking skills keep getting better and better. This is delicious!"
"Haha! I'm glad you like it. Eat as much as you want!" Kaori replied with a warm smile before adding, "Besides being tasty, do you notice anything else?"
"Huh?"
Mikoto paused, confused. She looked at Kaori, who wore a serious expression, and decided to focus on how the food made her feel.
After a moment, her eyes widened. "Actually, yes. This feels very different from the meals I've had before. It seems incredibly nutritious, and there's this warm sensation in my stomach that's spreading throughout my body."
She paused, trying to articulate the strange but pleasant feeling. "It's like the fatigue from my recent training is melting away, and my body feels lighter. My cells almost seem to crave this warmth... It's incredible! Auntie, what kind of meat is this?"
"You'll have to ask Katsumi about that! He's the one who brought it," Kaori replied with a mysterious smile, gesturing toward Katsumi.
"Oh?"
Mikoto turned to Katsumi, her eyes full of curiosity.
Katsumi didn't waste time explaining. Instead, he summoned a mysterious rune that emerged from between his brows, glowing faintly as it floated in the air. He handed it over to Mikoto, saying, "Touch this mark and agree to its terms. Then, you'll know everything."
"Uh…"
Mikoto blinked, staring at the rune in surprise. She couldn't remember Katsumi ever displaying such a mysterious ability before. In fact, he had been acting strangely enigmatic all day.
She glanced toward Kaori, who nodded encouragingly. Trusting them both, Mikoto made up her mind. She reached out and touched the rune.
The moment she did, a voice echoed in her mind, asking if she agreed to sign a contract with Katsumi. The contract promised great benefits but would also bind her to Katsumi in certain ways.
After a brief hesitation, Mikoto gritted her teeth and chose to agree. She trusted Katsumi and Kaori completely, certain they would never harm her.
The rune quickly sank into her hand and traveled through her body, settling between her brows in her sea of consciousness. There, it transformed into a shadowy, door-shaped figure that took root in the center of her mind.
At the same time, an influx of information surged into her consciousness—details about the time-space gate and the pirate world.
Mikoto fell silent as she processed everything.
This time, the information she received was far more comprehensive than what Kaori had gained previously. Katsumi had deliberately enhanced the transfer, including maps and other details about the pirate world to save himself the trouble of repeated explanations later.
After a while, Mikoto finished digesting the information and opened her eyes.
She looked at Katsumi and Kaori with an expression of disbelief and asked, "Is this... all true? Another world? So, this meat is from the Sea Kings of the other world?"
"Yes," Katsumi confirmed with a firm nod. "Eat more; it's good for you. It can improve your physique, enhance your vitality, and even increase your chakra reserves!"
He paused before adding, "Starting tomorrow, you should set aside some time every day to join me in the pirate world for training and body strengthening."
Although he initially considered asking Mikoto to help navigate the map, he quickly dismissed the idea. At only nine years old, Mikoto was just an ordinary Genin, making her unsuitable for the dangerous pirate world. It was far better for her to focus on training and improving her strength for the future. There would be many situations where her skills would be invaluable.
"Huh?"
Mikoto was taken aback. She glanced at Kaori, who gave her a reassuring nod. With a determined look, Mikoto turned to Katsumi and said, "Alright! I'll leave it to you, Katsumi. But as you know, I still have school. I might only be free after classes and in the evening. Will that work?"
Katsumi shook his head. "Do you know the Shadow Clone Technique?"
"Yes," Mikoto replied.
As the granddaughter of the second elder and a naturally talented individual, she had mastered the Shadow Clone Technique long ago.
"Then you can use a Shadow Clone to attend school during the day while coming to the pirate world in person to train with me," Katsumi proposed decisively.
"Is that possible?" Mikoto asked, realization dawning on her.
"Of course," Katsumi affirmed.
Mikoto nodded, a sense of determination settling over her. "Alright, except for practical classes, I'll use this method!"
She couldn't afford to miss the opportunity to practice in another world and strengthen herself. Since even Kaori approved, it was clearly something with immense benefits. There was no reason to hesitate.
"Then it's settled! After dinner, I'll take you there to familiarize yourself with the environment and the people. Afterward, you can visit whenever you're free," Katsumi said with satisfaction before continuing his meal.
---
After dinner, Katsumi brought Mikoto to Drum Island in the pirate world, where he introduced her to Kureha.
"Ms. Kureha, this is my cousin, Uchiha Mikoto. She'll be visiting often to train here. I'll take her around to get acquainted with the sect," Katsumi explained.
He then turned to Mikoto and added, " Mikoto, Ms. Kureha is a top-tier doctor—an incredibly powerful one."
"Oh?"
Kureha glanced at Mikoto, raising an eyebrow. "Another Uchiha? I'm Kureha. Little girl, do as you please."
"Hello, Ms. Kureha!" Mikoto greeted respectfully, bowing politely.
"Haha! You're a very polite girl!" Kureha said with a chuckle. "Relax; there are no formalities here. Look at your cousin—he practically treats this place as his second home!"
Mikoto gave a small, slightly uneasy smile and bowed again, still adjusting to the casual atmosphere.
Katsumi, noticing her discomfort, led her around to introduce the area. Finally, they arrived at a room he had specifically prepared as a practice space.
"Today, I'm going to teach you a method called the Health-Preserving Exercise," Katsumi explained.
"This practice can regulate your body, relieve fatigue, repair hidden injuries, strengthen your physique, and even prolong your lifespan. Additionally, it will accelerate the refining and absorption of Sea King meat, which will be invaluable for your future training."
"Come on! Follow me," he instructed.
Katsumi spent over half an hour teaching Mikoto the Health-Preserving Exercise step by step. Although she picked it up quickly, thanks to her Sharingan, her progress was still noticeably slower compared to Kaori's.
Mikoto, at just nine years old, had already awakened the Two Tomoe Sharingan, earning her a reputation as a prodigy within the clan.
By comparison, Fugaku, who was five years older and already 14, had only reached the Two Tomoe stage himself. This stark difference highlighted Mikoto's extraordinary talent.
"No wonder, in the original future, she could give birth to geniuses like Itachi and Sasuke. It's primarily because of Mikoto's exceptional genes, isn't it?"
Katsumi thought with a mischievous smirk.
He speculated that in the original timeline, Mikoto likely married and had children at a young age, foregoing further dedication to her training and lacking the necessary challenges to stimulate greater growth.
Otherwise, her achievements would have undoubtedly surpassed the Three Tomoe Sharingan.
