Chapter 21: Shy Mikoto, Kaori Intimidates The Entire Clan
_______
"This technique is amazing! I feel like my ability to digest and absorb the nutrients from Sea Kings has improved significantly!"
Mikoto exclaimed after successfully completing the health-preserving exercise. She could sense slight enhancements to her physique, vitality, and Chakra. The possibilities excited her—if this progress continued, the strength she could achieve in the future was beyond her imagination.
And it was all thanks to Katsumi.
Thinking of this, Mikoto's gaze softened as she looked at Katsumi with shining eyes. "Thank you, Katsumi!" she said sincerely.
"No need to thank me!" Katsumi smiled and waved his hand casually. "It's only possible because your favorability towards me has reached the required level. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to form a contract with you."
Hearing him mention her favorability, Mikoto's cheeks flushed slightly. She glanced at his increasingly handsome face and, feeling a bit embarrassed, turned her head away. "Don't misunderstand! The favorability is just because we're family, right?"
"Oh?" Katsumi raised an eyebrow, catching the attempt to deflect. He teased her playfully, "What did I misunderstand? That you like me?"
"Katsumi!" Mikoto's face turned even redder. She stomped her foot, glaring at him before turning and rushing out of the practice room, her embarrassment propelling her forward. She darted out of Kureha's house and stopped outside, where the snowy landscape caught her attention.
The serene, snow-covered scenery quickly calmed her mood.
Katsumi followed her outside at a leisurely pace. Noticing her rubbing her hands for warmth, he silently retrieved a thick cloak from the space-time gate and draped it over her shoulders.
Mikoto peeked at him shyly as he gazed into the distance at the snowy horizon. "Beautiful, isn't it?" he remarked. "There's nothing quite like this in Konoha during winter, is there?"
"Yeah," Mikoto nodded slightly, exhaling softly into her hands. "Konoha is warmer, even in winter. There's usually just a thin layer of snow, and it doesn't last long."
She paused, her brows furrowing slightly as she continued, "Also, Konoha is in summer right now, but it's winter here. Are the seasons between the two worlds completely out of sync?"
"Not exactly," Katsumi said, shaking his head. "It's more interesting than that. Drum Island, where we are, is a winter island. As the name suggests, the climate here is winter all year round—no spring, summer, or autumn."
"Really?" Mikoto's eyes widened in amazement. "An eternal winter? That sounds so cold and monotonous! Is it like this across the entire pirate world?"
Today had been a whirlwind of surprises for her. She never imagined that simply visiting her aunt's house for a meal would lead to so many astonishing discoveries.
Not only had her distant cousin completely recovered, but she'd also found herself in another world. No wonder her aunt and Katsumi had been so busy lately—they must have been dealing with matters here! And Katsumi… his abilities were truly unbelievable.
"Uh… It seems you haven't fully processed the information I transferred to you," Katsumi said, shaking his head in exasperation. "A lot of this is explained there!"
"Huh? Really?" Mikoto blinked in surprise before quickly reviewing the information she'd received earlier.
After a few moments, she came back to her senses, sticking out her tongue playfully. "Oops, you're right! I must've missed some of it. Sorry!"
She grinned sheepishly and added, "There was just so much information all at once. I'll make sure to go through it thoroughly later!"
"I didn't expect there to be not only Winter Island here, but also Spring Island, Summer Island, Autumn Island, and even Thunder Island," Mikoto said in awe. "There's also the Calm Belt, the Red Line, Sky Island, and so many other fascinating climates and landscapes. This place is far more interesting than the Ninja World!"
She paused and added, "And this world is so vast. The Ninja World feels almost insignificant in comparison."
Indeed, perhaps the landmass of four or five Alabastas combined would be equivalent to the entire Ninja World. Yet, in the pirate world, even excluding its vast seas, there are hundreds of Alabastas' worth of land. Not to mention the seemingly endless ocean stretching across the horizon.
"You're not wrong," Katsumi nodded in agreement. "The Ninja World wasn't always this small. It was much larger in the past, at least in areas abundant with life. But it's been greatly affected by the Sacred Tree."
"Sacred Tree? What's that?" Mikoto asked, tilting her head in confusion.
"It's nothing you need to worry about for now," Katsumi replied, shaking his head. "When the time is right, I'll explain."
Mikoto looked at him thoughtfully but chose not to press further. Instead, she silently resolved to uncover the answer from him someday.
"Alright, let's head back inside. It's too cold out here, and we don't want to catch a cold," Katsumi said after a moment of silence, motioning for Mikoto to return to the practice room.
Once back inside, he instructed Mikoto to continue practicing her health-preserving exercises. He also began his own training regimen. Katsumi had established a routine of practicing the health-preserving technique three times daily after meals to maximize its effects.
In the days that followed, Mikoto adopted Katsumi's advice and began using Shadow Clones to attend school in the Ninja World while dedicating her real body to training in the pirate world with him. Her strength and physique improved visibly, a rapid transformation that brought her immense satisfaction.
Each day became more rewarding, and her favorability toward Katsumi increased steadily. Before long, her favorability broke through 90 and showed signs of climbing toward the full value of 100.

Meanwhile, in the Ninja World, within the village of Konoha,
After finalizing the Uchiha reform plan with Katsumi, Kaori wasted no time. She convened a clan meeting to announce the proposed changes.
To ensure success, Kaori framed the reforms as her own initiative, knowing that the clan would be reluctant to accept the ideas if they came from someone as young as Katsumi. "It's only natural," Kaori thought. "People are less likely to trust a child with something so significant."
Once the clan members had gathered, Kaori methodically explained the proposed reforms, laying out the details with precision. Her sharp gaze scanned the room as she concluded, "Now, tell me your thoughts. If anyone has objections, speak up now. But let me make this clear—if you come to undermine me after everything is finalized, don't blame me for turning against you."
As she finished, Kaori released a controlled burst of her restrained energy. Her Mangekyō Sharingan flared in his left eye, the pressure radiating through the room like a crashing wave.
"Boom!"
The overwhelming momentum and terrifying pupil power descended on everyone present, forcing their bodies to feel heavy. Many found it difficult to lift their heads or even breathe properly. Their own Sharingan was suppressed, and they instinctively closed their eyes in fear.
"Hiss!"
The older generation, in particular, gasped in shock. Their wide-eyed expressions betrayed their disbelief as they stared at Kaori.
"Master Kaori, your body… Is it fully healed? Has your pupil power returned to its peak?" the Third Elder asked, his voice trembling with both fear and awe.
The others also stared at Kaori in astonishment, their thoughts screaming in disbelief: "Impossible!"
They had never heard of the pupil power of the Mangekyō Sharingan being restored.
Of course, the "pupil power" in this context refers to its upper limit. The inability to restore the Mangekyō Sharingan's pupil power similarly pertains to its upper limit.
Each use of the Mangekyō Sharingan inflicts damage on the eyes, reducing the upper limit of their pupil power.
At its core, this decline is a result of accumulated damage.
The eyes and the delicate eye meridians are unable to withstand the immense burden of the Mangekyō's power, and the process of using its abilities correctly causes nearly irreversible harm to both the eyeballs and the surrounding meridians.
Over time, the amount of pupil power the eyes can sustain steadily decreases, as does the amount of energy the eye meridians can channel.
This is the fundamental reason why the Mangekyō Sharingan gradually leads to blindness and why its pupil power eventually dries up.
It isn't that the Mangekyō Sharingan's pupil power is fixed at the moment it is awakened, becoming permanently depleted as it's consumed. Instead, the underlying damage to the eyes and meridians makes them increasingly incapable of maintaining their original capacity.
