Capítulo 37: Do You Want to Join?

Margaret was sitting at one of the long tables in the dining hall, seemingly absorbed in her plate, but in reality, she wasn't paying attention to what she was eating.

Her ears caught every word of the conversation taking place a few tables away.

Anna, the one with green eyes, was speaking loudly, with an air of self-importance and exaggerated dramatics that Margaret found hard to ignore.

"Yes, it's true! A noble sent me a letter. I couldn't believe it when I read it," Anna said with a satisfied smile, while the other girls looked at her in awe.

Margaret stopped moving her fork and glanced up just enough to observe the scene without being noticed.

She didn't need to hear any more to know that everything was a lie.

She had witnessed it herself the day before, when a noble —someone her own age but obviously of a much higher status— had invited the other Anna, the one who always tried to blend into the background, to meet with him.
