As soon as Jaime Lannister crashed through the door, he was welcomed by a sight he would never forget.
Elia held onto little Rhaenys and baby Aegon, shielding them from seeing the sight in front of them.
Floating off the floor was Aiden, his deep blue eyes were replaced with bright red lights that glowed menacingly, causing Jaime to immediately drop his sword.
Looking down he saw the dismembered corpses of both Gregor Clegane and Armory Lorch, Jaime then broke out in a cold sweat at the realization who his father had sent after the children.
He knew both mens favorite activities, they had worked under his father for a very long time. That realization of how far his father was willing to go boiled Jaime's blood.
He calmly looked back at Aiden who still had the red glow in his eyes as he looked at Jaime.
"It's okay now. We have to go. The city is lost. I am here to make sure you get out safely. You have to trust me, please. I can't lose you." Jaime pleaded, he knew they knew it was his father who was attacking so he knew the chances were slim in them trusting him.
Aiden looked at him a little longer, Elia said nothing, she only trusted Aiden right now so she left it to him. She too was shocked by what had happened.
Right when the Mountain had broke thru the door, he reached out to grab baby Aegon to snatch him away so he could kill her child right in front of her. However a four year old child grabbed his arm, not only did he stop the large mans arm with ease, stunning the Mountain greatly.
Just as he was enraged, Aiden ripped the man arm completely off and bashed him upside the head with his own arm, knocking him to the ground. Then a red beam of light, which caused the temperature to rise instantly, shot from Aiden's eyes cutting the stunned Armory Lorch in half, his face forever frozen between shock and fear as the light left his eyes.
Elia had been stunned completely, it was a shock she was still unconsciously trying to get over. The change in situation had changed too dramatically and quickly for her to fully register what had happened.
Aiden, feeling the sincerity and truth behind Jaime's words, gave Jaime a nod, his eyes slowly returned to their usual deep blue color as he floated back down to the ground.
Jaime had a million questions running through his head, all of which he quickly tossed to the back of his mind. If they made it out of here then he can ask those questions, but right now wasn't the time, they had to leave.
The main army could breach the castle at any moment, especially once word spread that the King was dead, Jaime knew all the guards would surrender once they learned Aerys was dead.
Picking his sword back up, Jaime led the way to a hidden passage. He had stashed away a small boat himself, he had foreseen this possibility, so days before he had made a escape plan just in case.
Jaime had ran into a few of his fathers men while traveling from passage to passage, Jaime ruthlessly killed all he came across. He was using his fathers men to vent his frustration at what his father had ordered, his orders were always the same when he sent those two men.
Brutal, Violent, Humiliating Deaths.
He knew had Aiden not been there then the scene would've haunted him for the rest of his life, knowing exactly what Elia and her children would've suffered at their hands had they their way.
Jaime's shouts of anger as he killed man after man, turned to cries of pain at what was happening and what could've happened. That day Jaime no longer saw himself as a Lannister, he was no longer a Kingsguard, he was a man protecting what he cared for.
Aiden felt the pain Jaime was feeling, his anger began to build, he too saw the horrors those two wished to enact upon his mother and siblings. This awakened something primal within Aiden.
Seeing him beginning to revert to his previous state, Elia shifted Rhaenys to her back quickly and held Aiden close as she whispered to him, "It's okay Aiden, we are okay. We are safe because of you. Don't leave us."
Her words snapped Aiden from his anger and calmed him down. Elia held on to Aiden as she followed behind Jaime, making their way to an exit that led to a secluded area in the bay where he had hidden the boat he had bought.
Elia quickly got in and hid within the covering that was installed on the boat. Jaime began to paddle as fast as he could to get as much distance as possible from the port.
Aiden, knowing what he needed to do left Elia arms, grabbing both sides of the boat, Aiden began to float once again. But rather then going up Aiden dashed forward, the boat shot forward, causing Jaime to nearly bust his face on the back of the boat, the oars dropped into the water as the boat shot across the water, like a stone skipping along the surface.
Within moments the boat landed on the island of Dragonstone, seeing that they were safe finally, Aiden's body relaxed and he began to fall back down. Elia caught him into her arms as she cried, this day was the worse day of her life.
Her husband was dead, the kingdom was after her and her childrens lives, and they had just barely escaped. She even worried for Lyanna who would be giving birth soon, she wanted to wake Aiden and send him to Lyanna, but remembering that he was but a four year old child she dared not wake him, she knew the boy was stressed.
God or no god, taking a life can effect those that weren't mentally prepared for it.
Jaime, quickly came out of his stupor, he couldn't believe they were already to Dragonstone. He was expecting to row all thru the night until they could arrive, but they had arrived in seconds rather than hours.
He held held out his arms and motioned Elia to hand Aiden to him, Elia looked torn but she knew she couldn't carry all three now that Aiden was no longer floating, earlier she could hold all three because Aiden was weightless.
Reluctantly she handed Aiden to Jaime, who craddled him in his arm and then helped Elia out of the boat. Just as they got a few feet up the shore they were stopped by a shout.
"Halt! Who goes there? Identify yourselves or you will be fired upon."
"I am Ser Jaime of the Kingsguard. I have the Princess Elia and her children with me. Kings Landing is lost, I am the only one left that hasn't been killed or captured. Do not shoot. The King is dead, King Aegon is with me so don't you fuckers shoot or so help me god I will butcher you after I skin your whole family alive in front of you." Jaime shouted back.
"Is that really you Elia?" A male voice was heard, which was recognized by both Elia and Jaime.
"Yes Ser Willem Darry, it is I, Elia Targaryen and Ser Jaime speaks true. He helped rescue us from the Lannister army, I witnessed him kill many of his fathers men with my own eyes. Ser Jaime has held true to his Oath." Elia walked forward with her head high and back straight, this ensured she was heard by all within range of her voice.
"Stand down! The lot of you. Get her into the castle and start building those trenches along the beach. War is coming." Ser Willem shouted, his voice resounded through the castle followed by the sound of the gates opening.
Elia and Jaime both quickly made their way into the castle of Dragonstone. Upon entering they noticed the tension in the air as they walked through the main hall towards where the royal quarters were.
During their walk, Jaime paid close attention to everyone within the castle grounds. He began noticing many looks of the men, they were full of fear. Jaime knew this wasn't a good sign, a castle full of men who were afraid could end poorly in many ways.
Desertions, disloyalty, sedition and even treason can all occur if the defending force was afraid. These men were very much afraid, the only thing that was keeping them in line was the Targaryen fleet and sailors that were still loyal.
The Targaryen fleet was stationed on the island and were beginning to prepare to go against the enemy fleets that would be attacking in a manner of weeks at the earliest and a few moons at the latest.
Upon entering the main royal chamber, Elia caught sight of her mother-in-law Rhaella who wasn't looking well at all, she was pale and weak from her pregnancy. Rhaella has had multiple miscarriages due to the brutality she was subjected to by her husband.
Elia ran over to Rhaella to check on her, seeing Elia and the children safe and sound her face slowly smiled as she sat up a little to give Elia a hug.
"Thank the gods you and the children are safe, we had feared the worst when we were told of the fighting going on in Kings Landing." Rhaella said weakly.
"Yes, we almost didn't make it. We owe Ser Jaime our lives. Are you okay mother? Have you heard anything about Lyanna?" Elia asked concerned about the baby.
Rhaella shook her head in response and released a sigh.
Ser Willem spoke up in response, "Last we heard she wasn't doing so well. We have requested Dorne to send a Maester but as I am sure you have guessed, your brother isn't too happy with Lyanna Stark right now due to your and Rhaegar's marriage was annulled because of her."
Elia released a sigh, "I told them that I approved. I willingly signed the annulment. Get me paper and pen, I will send a letter myself. I will make damn sure they know that if they continue to refuse to help an innocent girl and her child, so help me gods I won't ever return to Sunspear. I can also send a leter to House Dayne requesting Ashara's help." Elia stated, as she laid the sleeping Rhaenys and Aegon down to free up her hands.
Within minutes Elia was writing the two letters to be sent to her brothers and to Starfall.
As Elia wrote her letters Rhaella noticed Aiden unconscious in Jaime's arms, her eyes widened as she asked, "Is Aiden alright? He isn't hurt is he?" She asked as she motioned Jaime to bring him over so she could check on him.
Jaime however was unsure of what to do, it wasn't that he was afraid Adam would hurt the Queen or vice versa, he was unsure because he didn't want to just let Aiden's abilities to be widely known. He knew the importance of a secret weapon.
Seeing Jaime hesitate, Rhaella thought the worst.
"Nooo! Not Aiden, such a sweet boy." Rhaella cried aloud, her spirit just started to crumble as tears streamed down her face as she stared at Aiden.
"What? Mother no, Aiden is just asleep, he is ok, he just.....saw much today." Elia said as she stopped her writing.
"Then why is Jaime hesitant in giving me Aiden?" Rhaella asked as she couldn't think why Jaime didn't bring him right over when she asked.
Elia looked to Jaime, "It's fine Jaime, I need you to bring this letter to the raven handler and get these two letters sent." Elia said as she quickly pinned the last letter and took Aiden from Jaime, who gave her a nod and left to get the letters sent.
"See mother. He is just sleeping." Elia said with a smile as she placed Aiden next to Rhaella.
Elia knew that Rhaella loved to cuddle with Aiden, as did Rhaenys and herself as well, his body gave off a warmth like none other, it was soothing and relaxing.
She watched as Rhaella's complexion slowly improved, as if Aiden was healing her. Elia wasn't surprised, nothing would surprise her now, not after everything she witnessed. Had she not known of Aiden's origin's she may have thought him a demon in human skin.
It then dawned on her, an issue she knew she would need to resolve before things got out of hand. She realized that Jaime probably thought Aiden was a demon or creature, and not the sweet and loving boy he was.
Elia, couldn't decide whether to tell only Jaime or if she should inform everyone at once. She just wasn't sure, but what she was sure of was that both Jaime and Rhaella deserved to know the truth. Rhaella especially.
Elia knew Rhaella cared for Aiden greatly, while many of the guards snubbed him and treated him poorly, Rhaella after finding out damn near had the ones responsible almost flogged to death.
So she knew Rhaella's attitude wouldn't change towards him. It was Jaime and everyone else that she was worried about. She didn't want to alienate Aiden from everyone, to be called monster or demon would harm any child's psyche. She knew Aiden had excellent hearing, so even if they said it behind his back he would still hear it as if it was said to him directly.
But before that she decided to rest herself, just as she was about to slip into the bed with Aiden and her mother, a small brown blur apeared and snuggled into Aiden first. It was Rhaenys who had woken up and saw Aiden in bed with her grandmother.
Elia couldn't help but smile and slip in next to them, within moments of her head hitting the pillow, Elia fell asleep.
