During the morning hours, the mansion was chaos. Family from further away were packing their things up to get ready to head back home, and many of the women were in the kitchen, including Silas’s sister, who isn’t much younger than I am.
Silas’s oldest sister Charlotte was incredibly sweet, and she was pretty girly. She and Liz got along well. Charlotte was nearly a year younger than us. Silas seemed protective of all of his siblings. Ciara and Shane adored Silas—I didn’t get to spend much time around them, but it didn’t go unnoticed.
“Did we rush it?” Silas murmured when we were about halfway back to my place. Both of us had been pretty quiet that morning. We had eaten breakfast and left shortly after.
“Do you think we did?”
“No, but I don’t know, you’re just really quiet this morning.”
“I’m sorry. I was just thinking about stuff,” I said. “I didn’t mean to make you think we rushed anything.”
“So, what are you thinking about?” he wondered.
