Some snobbish noble scoffed, "I do not care about that. What I can't fathom is how His Majesty would allow himself to fall prey to such obscenity. It was obvious how much the whole lot of us disapproved of her."

"Why are you surprised, he's not one to have used his head much."

"Our father may have been demented, but don't let such foul words slip out of your mouth if you value your life. It's not your place," another one hissed. Probably the smallest of us, but not the youngest. She was more bite than talk. 

My mind, however, was far from the meeting. Their words flowed through one ear and exited the other as the girl occupied my mind.
