Capítulo 81: 76. Two Travellers
(A/N: Our heroes have finally started marching out of the Tartarus. I a going to post video on my channel next about "What If Minato never died". You might like my Hypothesis so look forward to it.)
Me and Kratos have done enough training. After a Bit of rest me and him will start marching out of the Tartarus. "How are we going to get out of this place?" I asked Kratos with a bit of a relaxed face. Hearing me, he started thinking.
"First will be the forest of eternal sorrows, then we will pass through the lands of grieve and so on, I will tell you as we go along". Those places sound dreadful. They might even be quite difficult to tread through. Unlike those places in the game that was like a lava river with caves and shit.
"Those places are very hard to tread. In the forest, you will be unable to sense or hear anything about a meter away from you. This will be my second time treading that place. The Gods sealed me after I successfully escaped here once". Looks like he has started opening up a little bit. We have been like master and disciple all this while. So, it doesn't come as a big surprise but it wasn't much of a secret to be honest.
"I can probably use my spiritual sensing to keep track of everything but we'll have to get there and see for ourselves first". I said in return, I was confident in my spiritual sensing but it doesn't hurt to confirm. The biggest problem is that the underworld is an infinite expanse of itself. So you have to be going in a correct direction, otherwise you can get lost for eternity to come.
"Well, what are we waiting for. Let's go". I stood up and dusted my clothes. We started walking in the northern direction, not that I know what direction it is. I am just following Kratos, so we'll see where destiny or Kratos takes us.
We speed walked a full day before we even saw a semblance of the Forest of Sorrows. It was ghastly and trees white ash like leaves and vines falling down. Eternal darkness there and nothing could be seen with normal senses. Instincts could help you with the attacks but nothing else would work here.
When I got in from of it. Me and Kratos camped in front of it for some rest and food. We know that once, we step inside this place, there will be no going back. Getting the time to rest will be a salvation in and of itself. So, we got plenty of rest and food before stepping inside.
Me and Kratos were vigilant and our senses were on overdrive as step foot inside the forest. I tried using my spiritual sense but found out that outside a 10 meters range, I could sense nothing. This was a problem, I will have to fully rely on my instincts and my instincts maybe good but they are not as powerful as Kratos'.
We were talking by hands, as any sound was not travelling inside this forest. So talking was out of the question. I was keeping my spiritual;l sense on Kratos at all times to not separate and know if he was saying something.
As we treading these treacherous lands, suddenly a monkey like being came rushing towards us. I only sensed it when it got into a 10 meters range of me. Kratos was already prepared and grabbed the monkey by it neck and ripped it apart., truly gruesome.
We were being rushed by them and their numbers were in multiples. There was just no end to them. I was fighting using hands, i had to conserve as much energy and as possible. As I was fighting a snake crawled from beneath me undetected and wrapped around. Its constructing force was really strong. I made a Ki blade and cut it off in half.
I am going to name them whispering monkeys and snakes. As you could only hear a whisper, when they got near you. This was the first sound, I heard ever since I got into this forest. Krato was also being targeted by these monkeys and snakes and was having a hard time against their numbers. They were just too many.
I don't know, how long we fought but at some point. They stopped coming but my instincts and guts were telling me that we were just being watched now, for an opportune moment. This place and silence was maddening. Kratos just gave me a signal, telling that we were going to rest but at full vigilance to not get caught offhand and I fully agreed. After that onslaught, we needed a little rest to keep our reserves conserved.
Just as we sat down to rest. Another wave of these creatures rushed at us, I could even detect some really small insects mixed into the fray this time. It looks like they were waiting for reinforcements. This thing just keeps getting herder.
Me and Kratos kept fighting and fighting. I had Ki Blades in my both hands and was slicing these creatures. This was helping me in honing my instincts and fighting style, pushing me further into new heights. I was slaughtering the creatures with relative ease.
Once you get used to it. They start getting a bit easier. Looks like they realised it as well. As we were getting used to the coming creatures' tactics, they changed and started coming out of ground and above head as well. Now were surrounded by the creatures covering us like a dome. We were slowly tiring ourselves out as we killed and killed.
I was sweating harder than Kratos. Its not like killing these creatures was effortless as we had to be vigilant and kill with a bit of power behind our strikes. Especially the insects, they were truly harder to kill because of their speed and small bodies.
The whispering was driving me insane. I couldn't hear my own sound but the sound of whispering was constantly ringing in my ear as I fought these creatures. I was being driven insane from all this.
Having had enough, I converged a massive blast in my hands, "Big Bang attack". I screamed the attack but unfortunately there was no sound but the resulting explosion wiped out the creatures. It became a barren wasteland for several miles, a bit of visibility returned to us. But the trees were already sprouting from the ground. In 10 minutes all this damage will be back to normal.
"We need to hurry, if we want to get out". I gestured to Kratos with my hands. Kratos looking at my signals nodded and we started rushing as fast as we could from that eternal expanse of a Forest. We had to fight several times, while rushing out of this forest. It took us couple of days to finally see even an end to this forest. This forest, even with our speed was too big to get out of easily.
As we got out, there was a massive being waiting for us at the exit. Here we go again.
