When we returned to the coven, as we walked through the crowds of people, many looked on as we passed them with the bounty from our hunt. They most likely assumed that it was Ma'lak that hunted the Nagas while I was just his apprentice and only helped with disassembling the carcass. We had made a couple stops to stalls and shops for various things. As meat was something that couldn't be obtained unless someone was strong enough to hunt it, or have people who are strong enough to hunt for it, it was considered as something of great value compared to certain things, depending on difficulty to obtain and danger. We traded for some other food options, like different edible plants or herbs, and traded some to get me a set of swords and daggers. We ended up trading away half of the meat we obtained from the male Naga.
When we got to the family compound and everyone saw our haul, they were naturally excited to have a feast tonight. We ended up having a feast of the Nagas and plants we obtained and some Nydak. With so many of us most people only had one or two plates and some juice made from crushing some plant I haven't heard of. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be like some kind of wine or alcohol as the taste and slight acidity mimicked the same feeling, but with how this planet is, it could've been just that it was made from a poisonous plant that was treated to get rid of the poisonous effect. It was still good though.
My mother was the most ecstatic about my successful hunt. She said that I would soon get my first tribal markings. I couldn't wait as I thought the markings of the Dathomirians were cool, but I wanted to use a special paint to use for my markings. I already knew what materials I wanted to use to make it.
Afterwards, I had given the stored blood and anything left over from our haul to the Nightsisters, but I kept the skeletons. I stored the spines in my inventory and hung the skulls on the wall of my room. I had asked Katelyn if she could control the lab to harvest some bone marrow and make a gene serum from it. I wanted to take advantage of the lab and finally start using gene serums to make fast improvements. It would take awhile as it was the first time and was automatic process instead of me doing it myself.
During this time, I practiced with my spear to raise its levels so that it would do more damage next time I fight an enemy like the Nagas. It was a lot easier for me to use a spear, because I had the advantage of using two hands even when doing any moves that required me to only use one side of my body to do the move. With my experience of learning different weapons and the knowledge I had, I kept hearing notifications about my skill leveling up.
After a couple hours, Katelyn had notified me that the gene serum was ready, but also gave me a warning of not knowing what effects it'll have on me. I quickly confirm that I understood the risks, but still grabbed the serum from my inventory. When I held the serum, I give it a quick look over. It looked just like blood, except that it was brighter, it was a thicker substance and it felt slightly warm to the touch.
I then have Katelyn give me an injector from the lab. Once I had it in my hands, I quickly loaded the serum into it and was about to inject it into my arm, but Katelyn stopped me beforehand and told me the injector was supposed to be used to inject the serum into the side of my neck. I then put the injector to the side of my neck, where Katelyn marked was the right spot, and injected the serum into myself.
The first thing I noticed was that the serum felt heavy in my bloodstream and flowed slowly. As my heart pumped, it continued to move throughout my bloodstream and effect my body. It started as a warm comfortable stream and I felt my body start to relax, but as soon as I let down my guard, my muscles quickly stiffened and my bones started to crack and shift in place. I could feel my changing, it started with strengthening my muscles, skin and bones, then it moved to adding new organs and changing the way my skeletal structure. My bones could dislocate and attach at will, allowing me to stretch my body a slight distance and increasing my flexibility. I also obtained an organ in my body that allowed me to deliver poison to my canine teeth that hollowed out and lengthened slightly, and it mutated by gallbladder and liver that allowed them to process bile, poison and contaminants and store the result of the process in an organ that holds the poison in my body before it gets sent to my teeth when I have the intent to poison someone with my bite.
Even my outside appearance had some changes. My skin toughened up more making it harder to get through it, which was a positive and negative effect as I would need stronger metals to get through it to inject more serums later on. I don't know how long the current injector would work, but I should probably start looking into this. The next change was my eyes. As expected with serpent dna, my pupils changed into slits, but luckily my eyesight didn't degrade.
The next day, I asked Ma'lak about hunting bane back spiders and gathering mushlings and hydraatis. I could use these to make a special paint to use for my future markings and I wanted to have them prepared. Also, I could use this chance to gather some spider eggs if I can find a nest.
Although he didn't know why I needed the plants but he agreed to take me to gather the plants and hunt the spiders, but he wanted me to get more experience hunting bigger prey before hunting the easier ones. He also warned me to be careful, cause even if something is smaller or weaker, with enough of them, they could still be deadly. So before we go hunting for spiders, we planned on hunting bigger prey to acquire enough meat and material to trade for necessary equipment and materials to improve my weapons, future armor and tools.
I agreed to this cause I admit that my equipment needs to be improved. I'll need parts to strengthen my bow as it was too weak to do proper damage against the beasts of Dathomir. That earlier shot that went into the female Naga's eye should've pierce deep enough to kill it, but it just blinded it. And it would be good if I get enough hide and metal to make an armored tunic. For now though my bladed weapons were good, unless I fought something like a Rancor, Chirodactyl, or Whuffa Worm. Thinking about it now, I couldn't wait to try to hunt a Rancor.
Hey guys, the MC will start meeting the other families soon, so I want to know what names the families' names should be and if you want you can add background info for a family and the ones I chose will be mentioned in the story and I'll add an honorable mention at the end of the chapter for the ones who made the names. I'll also be choosing the ones that have the highest likes first, pretty much a poll. So popular votes and interesting ideas. Popular choices will get priority in me deciding if I'll add them into the story and the interesting ones will be added into that priority list even without the vote requirement if it's interesting enough.
