47.05% Adapting to the Multiverse / Chapter 7: Childhood Pt. 4

Capítulo 7: Childhood Pt. 4

During breakfast I began to have a conversation with my mother about hiring an instructor to begin my battle training. I had assumed that I'd have to wait until my third birthday at least, but with the rate of my body's growth and my adaptation compensating for my age and stature I could obviously start even earlier than previously planned. She had agreed and told me she knew a Nightsister that had a well known champion. He wasn't the best in the arena, but he was part of the older generation and had a lot of experience. I couldn't wait to meet him and asked her to hurry and ask her friend to send him over.

It took a week before he could start training me. In that time, I had continued to train my fighting skill and used climbing the cliff face raise my skill and improve my strength. I even had to tie boulders to my body and had to have my mother cast a suppression spell. She was worried that an accident would happen again, but with me adaptation, that kind of fall wouldn't even hurt me that much. With all the training and meditation I raised some skill levels and got a new skill called sleep resistance. Now I can stay awake for longer without feeling the effects of sleep deprivation, but it still effected me somewhat, so I'd have to sleep eventually to recover from mental strain.

[Sleep Resistance skill acquired]

[Sleep Resistance Lvl.14/100 (passive): This skill allows the user to fight off the effects of sleep while maintain peak performance. Decrease in exhaustion build up by 24%.]

Once my new instructor appeared we did a brief introduction. His name was Ma'lak. He had the common orange skin color with the traditional Dathomirian markings, His eyes were brown, he was bald and he had the common spike crown growing on his head, but the one in the center of his forehead seemed to have been cut in half, causing to just be a kind of bone nub instead of spike. He had been fighting in the arena since he was eight and had participated in over forty Wild Hunts. He was well experienced in most weapons which include, but not limited to maces, swords, staffs and bows. He rarely used daggers due to the fact that he had to hunt large creatures in the wilds or a gladiator that had some kind of armor covering his vitals and wielded a weapon with a larger reach, so it was impractical unless it was an assassination and that is mainly done by the Nightsisters off world. So I now had to get a Nightsister to teach me how to wield daggers, like that'll happen. I'll have to wait until our plans are further along and just keep practicing on my own.

I gave a brief introduction about myself and then had my mother show all the notes she had documented my training on. When he saw what was written, he was skeptical, but he couldn't very well talk back against my mother no matter how low ranking she is in the coven or how high ranking his sponsored family is. That's just how it is in this world.

"Are you sure about this, kid? Based on these notes I'll have to put you trough the wringer and you're likely to get extremely injured or crippled if you try to do more than you can bear."(Ma'lak)

"Don't worry. Those are all completely accurate without a single bit exaggerated, wrong, or a lie. Please teach me with everything you got."

"Alright, you asked for it. Based on these notes, the normal workouts would be pointless, so we'll strictly be focusing on combat. I'll teach how to deal a hit and how to take one. I'll then teach you how to properly handle every weapon I can use. Once all that done, I'll then have you take a test and if you passed I'll then teach you all I can about hunting and how to survive in the wilds. From what you can eat and what you can't to how to forage, find what and track down prey. Finally I'll teach you how to hunt down your prey and have you battle it alone. If you aren't up to par at that time and die, you'll receive no help from me."(Ma'lak)

"Great! Well then let's get started."

After that I spent a whole month training with Ma'lak during the day and meditating at night. I only slept once every week. During said month I saw a major boost in my abilities and skills. Ma'lak was continuously caught off guard by my abilities and how fast I improved during our training. He had to keep upping the difficulty of the training and I had to have my mother use her suppression magic on me during such times. It seemed as if she was making vast improvements of her own with the blessing and and suppression spells. I even managed to get the mace, ax and hammer mastery skills.

Just looking at all the levels going up filled me with so much excitement that I almost couldn't contain myself.

"Alright, kid. It seems you're improving on the physical side of things quite fast and since we are way ahead of schedule in your training, I decided to start the next phase."(Ma'lak)

"Are we finally going hunting?"

"No. First thing first is that you have to know is that everything in the wilds will try to kill you and most of them do so through poison, so as your mother her is still with you I'll ask her to prepare some stuff for the next phase of you training. We'll here in a week to give your mother time to collect the necessary supplies. During that time, just rest up and do some light warm ups."(Ma'lak)

"Alright, teacher. I'll see you in a week."

During the week Ma'lak was gone, my mother left the house for a couple hours everyday. During those hours I couldn't improve on anything without an opponent due to their high levels, so I started to practice a couple of force techniques when no one was around. The first couple of techniques were the basics. I trained and acquired the force telekinesis, force push, force pull, force sprint and force jump skills. After a week of hidden training, I managed to get all the skills to level ten.

When Ma'lak returned, he brought another Nightsister with him. I assumed that this Nightsister was his mistress and my mother's friend. I expected it to be just some political friendship between houses of similar status that got curious of me after hearing about me from Ma'lak, but they actually seemed to be real good friends. They talked and laughed with each other for a couple of hours while Ma'lak and I stood behind our prospective Nightsister, which was the proper etiquette unless told to do differently.

From the conversation they were having, I learned that Ma'lak's mistress's name was Que'lana and I found out my mother's name was Que'laag. They had attended lessons together and hadn't heard from each other until a month ago, when my mother had to ask for Ma'lak to teach me. They apparently connected for their matching talent in fire based magic and their ability to control the bane back spiders. I found that fact weird since the only magic I had seen my mother cast were blessing, suppression and teleport. Apparently she even had given birth to a daughter five months ago. My mother was a little disappointed that she was not told beforehand so they could've celebrated together, as a daughter being born into a was a joyous occasion since it meant the family would gain another witch, which would increase their family's power. While it was the opposite if a Nightsister gave birth to a son.

As it was custom for a Nightbrother to be turned into a slave when they reach the age of five, they were no longer considered part of the family they grew up in and were taught to obey whoever they would end up working for as that would be their new family and their orders were supposed to take priority over anything else. Even if they had ordered me to sacrifice my life or told me to kill my mother, it would be expected of me to follow those orders or I would be punished or killed. That was one of they reasons I didn't want to get sponsored into another family and with the fact that my mother is alone and that she was trying to sponsor me into a higher ranked family with more clout, it was likely that they would try to have me do so as a sign of my loyalty to them. I would never go through with it, but I would probably get killed because of it, and who knows if they will let my mother live after. A higher ranked family can easily cover their tracks by getting a lot more of the unsponsored Nightbrothers and send a powerful Nightsister with them to achieved their mission and just kill the Nightbrothers present and stage it as a revolt. Thus the crime would be covered up and the Nightbrother would face unjust punishment later.

When they had finished catching up with one another, Que'lana told my mother why she was here. Apparently Ma'lak had told her about me and the training that I was undergoing. He had even had copies of my training that my mother wrote. They covered my progress from when I first started training with a proper teacher to all the training I had done with Ma'lak and he told her what we were going to be doing for the next phase of my training and he thought that it would help to have another Nightsister involved in the process. Que'lana of course agreed and came over with him, but I think that was only an excuse to see my mother or me. She did just give birth to a daughter and may want to talk my mother into allowing me to be her champion. Sadly my mother had already given promises to the middle ranked families with daughters first, so they would have to be given priority and we wouldn't be able to go into negotiations with anyone else until after, but my mother told her she could squeeze her into a possible candidate family and have her appear at the same meeting as them.

Luckily Que'lana understood my mother's situation and agreed to show up a the meeting later, but for now she decided to still help out with my training for now in hopes of earning brownie points, or so she said, but I think that she just wanted to genuinely wanted to help my mother as an old friend. Apparently my new training regime was going to be building up my tolerance to the poisons of Dathomir and some of the more exotic ones they were able to get from off world through shady channels.

With Dathomir being considered a dark world and because of the Jedi's fear of the Nightsisters' unknown way of manipulating the force through their magic, the Jedi sent a blockade that prevented any of the Dathomirian natives from ever leaving the planet unless you could get a really good smuggler to come through. The smugglers were our main source of off world materials and produce, but due to the difficulties and dangers that comes with smuggling under the republics radars to get to this planet, they hike up the price by a lot and we didn't have almost anything to give in return. At the moment, the only thing we have to barter are this planet poisons and grounds to grow other strains of poisons from other worlds that end up mutating and becoming deadlier due to the natural energy and atmosphere of the planet. the also tend to use the open areas to build underground labs that produces most of the the illegal substances of the sector of the universe.
