His actual mistress will not be present at all in this story, except for a few flashbacks. I know it’s an unusual take to have with a MC in service to another, but it will be worth it when you finally connect the dots and fully understand his motivations.
The stranger had heard his Liege-Lady speak of this man before, in a very high esteem - though he believed that was a given considering her position as his ward.

Expect both, but not in the way you would usually think.
It feel rushed because the relationship itself is meant to be unnatural. People, especially little children, do not get attached to others at that sort of speed. Powder’s feelings towards Callian are bleeding through from the timeline he left behind, corrupting her psyche. This applies to Vi’s flashback too, although her changes were far more obvious to notice.
Alternative timelines turning out to be cannon is going to help keep this work faithful to the original, because I actually had this written before the latest act released.

I would have loved to, however I’m sadly not a talented artist myself, nor am I well versed in AI image generation. This is also the reason this book still doesn’t have a proper cover yet.

I know... I still can't believe this story got so much traction. Perhaps I'll finish the combat chapter I hinted at and release it as a final omake. We'll see.
(A/N: Guys I can't lie, I skipped ahead what is probably fifty chapters or a few months ahead to write one of the best fight scenes of all time; it is absolute cinema. Truly a shame you won't be able to read it for quite a while.)
