they are not involved in* politics.
"Briefly will have to do for now," Rozie handed a shirt over to Mia who had taken off her top and was waiting. "Like any good secret society, the lineages rule Amber Plains in secret. They're not involved politics; they find it too bothersome and ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of things," she explained as Mia got dressed. "There are currently five lineages that rule Amber Plains, five families; the Arkwrights, the Smiths, the Johnsons, the Morgans and the Fays," she explained, leading the dressed Mia out of the room and down the halls of the Arkwright Manor.

weird
"I remember that day," Rozie's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, causing her to put down the picture. "You were so happy that I thought you'd give yourself a heart attack," she wrapped her arms around Mia from behind, pulling her into a hug that Mia allowed herself to relax into. "I know you're going through a lot, but I'm going to need you to be a brave for me right now. Things are going to be hard, things will fly off the handle and you will doubt yourself several times," she placed a gentle kiss on Mia's cheek, "But I need you to know that I'll be here for you every step of the way. And although it doesn't look like it, Hadin does care for you. You're the most important thing to him,"

"Yes sir," she rasped. "Its body didn't have a firm shape. It was fluid, one moment it had wings, the next it had multiple tendrils. Like it didn't know what it wanted to be and was just trying on different forms," she paused, taking a deep breath as she mentally steeled herself for the recollection. "Then all of a sudden I was afraid," she didn't look at him, she couldn't bare to see the disappointment on his face. "I tried to fight back, I swear I tried, but my body refused to move," hot tears ran down her face, her body shaking as choked sobs racked her body. "I fought back; I promise I did. I even killed it. I stomped its head into a paste after I ripped off its baby headed tongue, but it still survived" she sobbed as Hadin watched on impassively.

yeah. she be doing too much.
Pushing herself to her feet, she shot a glare at the writhing creature on the floor and charged, winding up a kick which she delivered to the skull with enough force to send a car flying, the sound of crunching filling her ears as the creature's head snapped to the side before stomping on its head repeatedly to exorcise her rage. She had been made to feel afraid, made to feel weak, to feel like she was not enough. With each stomp to the head, she reminded herself that she was enough. She was enough for Rozie, she was enough for the family, she was enough for Hadin. She was enough for herself and nothing would make her feel like she wasn't. Her rampage was brought to an abrupt end when a lance of pain tore through her torso and multiple somethings writhed inside her, wrapping around her insides. Breathing was hard, her breath rattled and she coughed out a thick globule of blood.
