THIS! Abigail is in the perfect position to be a traitor to Zara. It makes sense given how she doesn't have her own individual name and is with her when she's the most vulnerable (sleeping, bathing, etc ...). Zara also exposed herself to her by being nicer to Abigail when she was supposed to be a bona fide witch.

What truth about Zara? I feel like David's ploy of having Lizbeth marry Erik atrocious and not some genius strategy against the Physicists. Even with the truth revealed, I don't feel Zara and David come out smelling like roses.
I knew then that I never wanted to be with a person who'd choose me second to a cheating asshole.

I am so ready for Emory getting redemption. I hope this is not a drill. 😫 There's probably something wrong with my brain but I enjoy her character WAY more than Zara's. Same goes for Ash over David. This novel is amazing but I'm not that invested in the MCs or their romance. The world and side characters (Baddie Daddie included) is what's so compelling to me.

Aggie doesn't have to be a full-on baddie to cooperate with the Physicists. She might see them in not black-and-white terms like Stark does. David is very simplistic in that respect. To each their own. Usually I can ignore it in books but the "royalty" stuff bothers me here. Hot take: what Zara's dad accomplishes is mind-boggling. If he wasn't evil, he is a more talented & qualified King than David.

I suspected Aggie since she was introduced. The rumors of David's parents could only be explained away with secrets that would rock his world. His parents & Aggie fraternizing with the Physicists would do that. I am okay if Aggie turns out bad. She & David have gotten on my bad side when they belittle "servants" because they are "royalty." She did that with Ash which makes her unforgivable. 😆

Thank you. I might check that out and the FB group. This is my first Aimee book and it is incredible. I don't know the book biz but I'm surprised she's not more well-known. This fantasy romance is better than so many mainstream ones.

I left FB a while back but I'm getting hugely tempted to return just for this book. I am kind of happy to hear that my criticisms of "golden boy" David might not be complete crazy talk. I LOVE this novel so much but I feel so bad that my #TeamAsh comments here come off so negative and contarian. 😅
But because I wanted her scared enough to cling to me and let me protect her. I knew it was selfish, but was it really a crime? I loved her. I'd already proven I'd die for her. She just didn't realize how much I loved her yet. If she'd had any clue, back when there was still a question, surely she would have chosen me?
