HUGE misconception this one Myrthle’s death was an accident and not done by Tom himself thus not the one that gave him the chance it create a Horcrux. It was, in fact the murder of Tom Riddle Sr the one that he used to create the diary
This murder allowed Voldemort to split his soul and store part of it in his diary, thus creating his first Horcrux.
