Its features changed over time, supposedly when it assimilated different monsters and gained their strengths. But it always had a fire whip and control over the Labyrinth. The cursed burns could have been caused by the fire whip in question. It was described as a force of nature, unable to be stopped, unable to be escaped, without ending up swallowed up by its cursed flames and ash. It was pretty much invincible, being able to be healed from any wounds. It was slow, but unpredictable, like someone's inevitable demise.

There really was no point in having her die here. she just isn't a character harry cares about, ergo; a character the audience cares about. Maybe if she got a redemption arc first, but all she was, in my eyes at least, was a small nuisance that interrupted the story every every so often. There was no emotional reaction whatsoever.
AN: This chapter was a beast to write. I actually felt exhausted in the end. Before you ask, yes, this was always the plan with Lily, from the very first chapter I wrote her in. I hope I did her justice, but I guess that's up to you to decide. But damn, the fight sequence was extremely hard to write. I never really have any trouble with those, but it's very hard to have a fight with stakes whenever Dumbledore or Grindelwald are involved since they're so powerful. I'm not sure I pulled it off, but I hope I did. Like always please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions.

The only reason they were still alive was by pure chance, and it wasn't something that Harry really experienced before. It had always been his efforts, maybe even a plan he pulled out of his ass at the last minute, but it was always him that saved his own hide. The sheer shock at the chance, at fate itself, saving him, the very thing the Olympians wanted to manipulate to their ends, was just hilarious. He didn't even know why. Maybe it was pure incredulity, maybe it was something else, but nonetheless, he couldn't stop laughing.
