Just adding a "of the sink" to the porcelain part would have been enough. There can be a lot of porcelain in a bathroom. Though a "he slouched down..." or something would have done an even better job. Also, people picture things differently in their mind, some don't even have a picture anything. I myself only pictured the mirror, nothing around it.

How could we have known you meant the sink? There was no mention of the mirror being the type to be hung above a sink, it could also have just been a full body mirror, neither was there a mention of him crouching down or something similar to get his head near it. You probably pictured a bathroom/mirror and forgot you didn't tell us about it.

Hmmm, tough choice. Rumi is the obvious pick, but honsestly it get's kinda boring after the 400th time reading it. My pick would be Hawks. It could lead to a more interesting story, not just following the cannon to a T.
