That falls into the Zoan category, the same way a speacial paramecia falls under the paramecia category
"The Devil Fruits were divided into three categories: Zoan, Paramecia, and Logia. Zoan allowed the consumer to transform into animals or gain animal-like powers, Paramecia offered various mutant-like abilities, and Logia bestowed powers based on natural elements."

I think that really depends on how you define the Blood Mist policy. Is it the systematic genocide of Kekkai Genkai clans (started by Yagura/Madara/Obito during the third ninja war) or their graduation policy, which was in place since the founding of the village and was stopped by Zabuza killing the entire graduating class or is it both? Not too mention it's shown Zabuza already defected in a later chapter so he should have already participated in the coup de ta
(As a side note, I've noticed that many authors write about Obito controlling the Hidden Mist between the Nine-Tails Night and Itachi's defection. But in reviewing the story, I found that Yagura was fully conscious when he encountered Juzo and Itachi. If he had been controlled before, the people of the Hidden Mist would've noticed. This arrangement felt more logical.)

Then how did the blood mist policy start, and there was a coup against Yagura that resulted in the defection of Zabuza, Utakata, Kisame, and the extermination of the Kaguya clan? Both of those begin/take place at least a couple of years before the massacre

The first 50 or so chapters are very good and enjoyable, but after that, the author makes some seriously bizarre choices for the direction of some of his characters. I find it really ruins a lot of inter-character interactions and makes the overall storyline rather unenjoyable and muddled. Also, I find the author has a hard time really honing in on important character traits and their subsequent actions
[I assure you, you are of sound mind. I am a collection of intelligence and data called 'Sibyl'.]

Yes.
That is semantics and tbh every mythological zoan is still an animal. Buddah is just a human, a pheonix is just a bird, a Hydra is just an eight headed snake, Nika is just a human too. I don't think their supposed godhood makes them not animals/creatures
