false. corn snakes are AMAZING pets and have an incredible temperament. but like any other reptile, they scare easy so they can be a little "aggressive" to make you back away. which mostly looks like strikes with no real biting unless you grabbed them, in which case they believe they have to fight for their lives

I think Karl is boosting everyone's system to get better results of exp farming compared to "normal" training
But more imminently, Karl noticed that everyone in the group was becoming much more powerful than they had been when they started the battles. Officially, practice did help the growth rate, but it was supposed to have more to do with the individual how rapidly they advanced unless they were using some sort of magical aid.

it occurs to me now rereading this that it would be like recurring highschool: start as a freshman with 3 years of senior students, go through your 4 years with junior students following after you, only to graduate and repeat the process all over again with most likely the exact same groups of seniors ahead of and juniors behind you
Each of the other towers would also contain four years of students, keeping them somewhat within their age groups within the academy, but the classroom and common areas would let them mingle outside their dorm towers with ease.
