I didn't say there were no consequences at all. I said there were no serious drawbacks in binding vows like these. However this specific binding vow of sukuna is different. He didn't just make a vow but rewrote the core of his technique, with the condition that he must cut through gojos infinity to kill him. This was a vow he could not break since gojo was already dead. it's not that he didn't want to, but he just couldn't because it was impossible to bring back a dead person to life. But I was specifically thinking of nanami with his overtime vow when I posted my comment.
Of course, the price had to be paid tomorrow. And if he tried to break it, then he'd get a backlash. What it could be, Sukuna himself couldn't be sure, but this was an example of a kind of vow that could really be dangerous.

☝️🤓um actually Mirio became the next no.1 hero, so technically she is correct
Isshun nodded along, inwardly quipping, 'I'm sorry to say, but I'm pretty sure the next All Might is going to be in my generation.'

There's a specific no harem tag on this fic, but go off
However, that thought put a fond smile with a hint of relief on her face. She sure was glad that Nejire got her hands on him first before anyone could have taken this perfect son-in-law.

Finally, a good LOTR fic. I have been waiting for this. Story is solid, kingdom building esque. I like the deep dive into the original lore as well. Good job author 👍

There are no serious consequences if one makes a binding vow with themselves. The serious and even deadly consequences come into play, when there are more than 1 person in 1 binding vow.

Don't worry, it's very much enjoyable. I mean at least I did.
Author Notes: I am unreasonably anxious about this chapter. I dedicated it mostly to a thematic view of Albert from another character's perspective, and I am not sure how entertaining it is. I suppose I will look at the reception and judge from there.

Okay. This story has a great premise. I liked the main character in the beginning, it was very funny seeing him struggle and come to terms with his "dudness". Buth the story has big issues. I don't mind the AI formatting the story. But the plot development 8s atrocious. I can't understand the character anymore since he got his powers. His Grandma feels more like a liability. She never supported him becoming a hero. She has medical bills that make her a liability. At this point she holds back the MC so much that I can't help but hope for her death soon. The MC just shrugs at his power when he tried so hard in the beginning to activate it. He tries this annoying trope of the "mysterious mc trying to hide gis power". From certain points of view, like normal people trying to go about their daily lives, living in a hero society, the story seems mildly interesting. But it gets old really fast. I'll wait amd see if there's any direction change in the story, but until then, it's just wasted potential.
You're right that gojos death wasn't the condition. But the binding vow he made is still special. He needed just 1 wcs that can overcome gojos technique, and after that sukuna must fulfill the 3 conditions to use it. As for whether sukuna permanently made a change in his technique to overcome infinty, I'm not sure. In any case. This specific binding vow still cannot be broken in anyway. because the user of the techinque that he used it against is dead. Again, my point is that this vow was a special case, where sukuna couldn't break it, simply because it was impossible due to the law of equivalent exchange. It wasn't an option for him. But yeah, I mean it's true that my criteria of seriousness of breaking a vow is harming the user and it could be different in scale to each vow. But the harm of breaking it is proportional to the power gained. At least that's what I think. But I'm not gege. So you might be right. Or not.
Of course, the price had to be paid tomorrow. And if he tried to break it, then he'd get a backlash. What it could be, Sukuna himself couldn't be sure, but this was an example of a kind of vow that could really be dangerous.
