TLDR: To clear up some confusion. Syra and Kael are twins *and aren't aware of this fact). Anasterian's other children are half siblings with them. A plot was hatched by Faedra/Anastarian to replace the older generation of his kids, and birth a new heir. Vandercross was roped into this plot, and intended to wed his kid to Syra so that peace between the Great Houses would form. Then the Scourge attacked, and fucked everything up. :)
Varrus rolled his eyes at them, but couldn't help but smile. Whatever kind of crazy family this was, he wouldn't have it any other way.
