There is a fair bit of romance in this novel mostly for the human/elf women. The MC lives a pretty promiscuous lifestyle through the course of the novel, so there are a lot of women he encounters from many different backgrounds. Some relationships get developed more than others, but the MC doesn’t necessarily throw them away. Everyone is trying to achieve their own goals at the same time, so they separate and meet again when they can. I think author makes it clear that although there are relationships, the MC won’t be tied down by them too much especially for the plot to advance
