Dude this author is ridiculous! Even 2 minutes would be a lot and require him to train and get better, but 10 minutes AND he’s doing it while their are no enemies or danger so he is fully focused? His growth rate would have to be crazy high for him to make this skill usefull immediately.
Then upon reaching the ten minute mark the change occurred and both my hands were now machete.

So they just standing there not saying anything? Author should try envisioning what he writes and reflect if it makes sense or not. Also he should not need oxygen or food while hes inorganic, should probably stop his aging as well (Bobby and Colossus stop aging when transformed).
Once a few more minutes passed I willed myself to revert to normal.

Even IRL its pretty bad unless you have access to a good amount of money or very well paying job. Otherwise youre living paycheck to paycheck, so barely living but not thriving.
Which in all honestly isn't a bad place to begin a new life in a once fictional world in my opinion.
