Not really, it only works if they are on par with each other. Current Shanks will mop the floor with MC.. Haki trumps all, so it's hardly a competition between them. And I would presume that Shanks has most powerful haki of all currently present on island. He is also the most fresh as he didn't participated at any fights prior. So forget it.
