“If you don't see the book you want on the shelves, write it.”
― Beverly Cleary
Inspirational! It answers a great part to why I write, the rest being that it's an amusing hobby.
"Protecting you is what I'm supposed to do as your elder brother. We're family after all. And family always comes first."
For Chang Sun, his elder brother is his everything, he has more respect for that person than for their own father. However, when said brother betrayed his truth and the ugly lies of the past became known, death may just not be enough to avenge his bloodthirst.
When truth becomes lies and lies become truth, family becomes but just a meaningless word.
Life is ironic. Love and hatred are but two sides of the same coin. Emotions are fast changing. Sometimes she was too slow, maybe that’s why she didn’t see it coming.

To the one she thought she knew, the wounded her ended up saying,
“You were my one and only real friend, I thought I was yours too.”
“… You are right. And because you are, I need you to die,” he had answered.
***
To the one she thought would never understand her, the suffering her requested,
“A lie. Just a last one, before my death... Lie to me again.” Despite the pain, the smile on her face was sweet. A genuine one as she made that plea.
“I love you,” he had whispered.
A cliché retelling. The overpowered protagonist who gains the most powerful familiar.
Well, it just so happens that he doesn’t fight, nor does he have an adventurous bone in his body.
And so, to resume it all, this is the story of a previously scary demon lord who is reincarnated as a human -sort of- and gains a sick familiar. Bonding time, bonding time, that’s what it’s all about.
"Families are about love overcoming emotional torture". Matt Groening
"When you cut relationships you really cut them clean, there is no place left for past feelings... I was still a child but I grew up since then, I’m used to it now, not seeing around and not hearing you either. I’m fine with you never calling again. I grew up, and we will be perfectly fine without you."
She died and entered an otome game. She understood at last that the plot wasn’t something that you could just ignore or run away from. The blasted thing would always come knocking!
When she finally understood, she was already too late. The protagonists had already fallen in love with each other and planned for a marriage. Maybe she was still lucky though, for she narrowly avoided a situation of certain death. A long, painful and agonizing death. However, she couldn’t let this be. There was inside her a growing anger that had yet to disappear. She had yet to vent. It was a need. One that may lead her to death’s door too, but if she died by this person’s hands, certainly, it would be in a quicker way.
She just never thought that his revenge would come in the form he chose to give it. He was quite a… bewildering man.
“I’ll be there. Tell me when, tell me where; no matter what, I’ll be there as fast as I can. If you need me, you just have to call. I’m not a superhero but I’ll be there for you.”
It wasn’t wrong if one said that she was vain and naïve, a grudge holder and a person of short temper; her biggest fault certainly, was that she liked money as much as her mother did, if not more than the woman. But could one really keep on being like this even though one had no power to back it up?
The experience she had lived, how could she described it?… In the end, what should be retained was that she knew what the future had in store for her. Disinherited by her father, poverty, and death.
Once appeared that long-lost daughter from God knows where everything took a turn for the worst for her mother and herself. The strained relationship they had with the elders of the family degraded even more and a couple of years later, some secrets got revealed questioning her blood ties with the family. In the end, they were expelled and treated like dirt.
With that kind of knowledge, how was she supposed to react? Was she supposed to lower her pride? Was she supposed to stay low key in order to prevent her ultimate demise? Was she supposed to befriend that sister –apparently the real legitimate child-?
She simply could not!
Yaling hated. Hated with the fire of a thousand suns. With a cherry on top! If relationships should be severed, let her be the initiator!
There is just one step between hatred and love they say. Reason and folly should have about the same difference between them. Just a tiny step, so easy to take.
What does it mean to be loved?
What does it mean to be their parents’ everything?
What does it mean to be someone’s home?
Erminae didn’t really know. It wasn’t for the lack of trying. But, she thought with envy, wasn’t it just what Vicenzio had?
She saw her mother’s indifference, saw her father’s unresponsiveness. Whoever she tried hard to get close to the result was the same. She was but air for them.
She saw that woman came in with her son. She saw him get what she always desired.
Her jealousy turned her into another person, an ugly one, blinding her to other possibilities.
And ultimately, she understood, what she was searching for she would never get. This was when she finally learned to let go…
