flayer just means flayer, not flare, flayer in this context likely either means to remove the outer layer, or to whip, both of which are things they do to human minds with their psychic powers, at least in DnD. Though it would be funny if it meant the mind insulter, but I don't think that is the meaning.

There are lot of christians that don't believe in big G God, I don't quite understand why, but there are so many subsects of christianity, that there is really nothing you can say they believe or don't believe that would hold true for all branches of christianity. You can argue they aren't "real" christians, but I they still are christian.
The former was tempting, honestly as heaven was a myth which was apparently real since God himself said so. To a Christianity like me, it was the ultimate goal of my religion and I would have the chance to go there.
