of course there are things that are slightly different, but even me as an adult would fanboy a little seeing the boy who lived in reality. BUT, the approach I take his reincarnation is a little different. He's young again, so control of your hormones is different when you are an adult. so being excited about something is more elevated then it would be as an adult. just my view on it. sorry if it sux that way LOL but its how i'm approaching it.
So there's this wide theory about it right? I kind of just went with one that makes most sense to me. Which is, everyone knew about the hat, the excitement and shock comes from which house they are in. I don't think anything is ever set in stone, but in my opinion, for the wizarding world, the sorting ceremony for adults probably isn't that big of a deal. Sat on a stool, wore a hat, got sorted. Probably just discussed it in passing and even the hat in passing casually. Nothing to warn about. In the book, it was really just Ron and Hermione discussing it. I think Ron just got pranked by Fred since fred told him it hurts a lot, and Hermione heard the word test and did her own thing. I could be wrong, but again, I went with what makes most sense to me.

Did I? They are 1 year older than Kate, who is one year older than Ron. So they are 2 years older than Devlin and Ron.
the twins are in school now? Ron is talking to Devlin. they are the same year. the wand was for Kate who's a year older than Ron and Devlin and a year younger than the twins. she's the one with the wand
"I guess we'll be classmates next year then!" Ron says.

You know the ministry doesn't track children who aren't in Hogwarts yet to do magic. If you read the book As child Severus told child Lily in the memory, the Ministry ignores all magic done by children that aren't in Hogwarts yet. And Hermione practiced ton of magic before entering Hogwarts
