 Nightmares, things I always have suspicions of but would deny to believe, became reality as evidences were presented in my very own eyes.

My eyes narrowed in confusion, rereading the entry again after reading it for Kristen and Simon. Then I look at Simon in question, who shook his head, indicating that he has no idea as well. 

"What's up with xenon lamps?" Kristen asked, breaking the silence. "His mother always has it, as long as I remember." 

"Suspicions too," I interjected. "Why take a picture of having the safe and documents when there is no photo of its contents? He never mentioned what even are his suspicions." 

Simon hummed. "So, there's more with his parents. I don't know how but it could be a reason why would he ran away and left with him."

"The Gutierrez family has always been a public family, as they are well-known. Secrets were kept, sure, but as long as I know, his parents' lives had always been publicly known."

She even never mentioned the names of her dead family, or which cemetery they were buried. Renz never mentioned visiting relatives in his mother's side, as we always believed she is an orphan." 

Simon looks at me seriously. "Are you saying that there is more to Aunt Lene's past? That she being an orphan might had been a lie?" 

"Or a lie necessary for whatever reason," I clarified, ideas going into overdrive on all the possibilities. "Uncle Liam never specified too how he managed to save the company, always telling he just did his best and unexpectedly the results became better than he thought. Maybe there were more to it." 

"But do these secrets really related to his disappearance?" Kristen reasoned out. "He disappeared, left a note with cryptic message, which ended up with our deduction that whoever this wicked clown is the one behind it." 

"You said it, a deduction." I agreed. "But we never knew his real reason. What if he left because that man blackmailed him with whatever secrets he found out? Or maybe he offered Renz a chance to find more information about their past? We still don't have enough evidences to say that our deduction is really the truth. We need whatever leads, and this may be a far-fetched lead, but it is better than nothing. We cannot go after Renz because we all know we will just make him go away, will make him farther as he always is when cornered. And just because one girl was found dead that might be connected to this case does not mean he will drop any more bodies. Look at me for example, am I dead? No, I'm completely alive and healthy as I can be. I've never given up fighting and neither should the police, my parents, Chloe, and anybody else who is following the missing sisters case. Mom I will promise you that I will try to not give up fighting for my life, and I will try my hardest to help Chloe survive too. We are not going to give up that easily. You are the best mom ever, and if you did keep something from me I know you did that probably for a good reason. I might not understand what that reason is, so help me figure that out. Baring her canine tooth slightly, Yin Xiaoqi hastily stood up. She picked up her virtual suit and virtual reality headset from the floor.
After putting them on, Yin Xiaoqi clicked into the interface, clicked on Battle Online, and started the game.
A sense of weightlessness transmitted over her. A character selection interface appeared in front of Yin Xiaoqi as the display became clear. However, the scene changed again before she could see anything clearly.
She then realized that she was in an unfamiliar world.
Blood-colored rain was drizzling as a gust of cool breeze brushed against her. Meanwhile, there were some pedestrians strolling on the street…
Everything felt so real. It was similar to what she just experienced.

Lu Wu, an aimless video game developer, had been feeling perturbed ever since he found out he was the direct descendant of a king from the underworld. Other than the title, His Excellency, his ancestor hadn't passed down anything else to him. On top of that, all of his ancestor’s subordinates had rebelled against him and completely usurped his inherited territory.
Under the circumstances, Lu Wu built a battle game server with the help of his new mysterious friend and transported gamers from the real world straight to the underworld using virtual reality. They then created the main quest, the character classes, the Instance Dungeon, the storyline, and the non-player characters for the game.
Relying solely on these video gamers’ strengths, Lu Wu began his expedition to reclaim his rightful inheritance. What could possibly go wrong?

Felix did nothing else but stare at the ceiling absent-mindedly after landing on the most hated format game for those who were confident in their strength to beat the shit out of their contenders. The many variables within its games nullified their absolute strength.
In Felix's previous life, Puzzles games were actually his favorite format. He didn't win them all, but he still had a good win rate while playing them in comparison to other formats.
One single small mistake could even eliminate the 1st ranker player, one lucky opportunity could make the last ranker clinch the win. This kind of uncertainty was Felix's jam. His trash bloodlines weren't making it easier to compete in battles format games, but in puzzle ones, at least he had a shot.
If the death race luck meterage decided who would have better opportunities to clinch the championship, in the case of puzzle games, luck decided whether one emerges as champion or not.
However, without the necessary intelligence to take advantage of a lucky opportunity during the game, a player could only waste it.
Intelligence was still the true deciding factor to perform the best of one's ability within puzzle games.
Dejected, Felix rubbed his eyelids while sighing. He gave a spiteful glare to his hands, which kept causing him misfortune.
"I dare you to let me down again." He threatened them like a lunatic, "I swear I will cut you down and heal you back up."
He rubbed them nervously while eyeing the green button that was for spinning the next wheel, which had hundreds of puzzle games within it.
"F*ck it." He swore and pressed the button forcefully, not worrying anymore about what happens.
The wheel span rapidly again. However, this time Felix didn't leave it spin for even two seconds before he stopped it.
The wheel gradually slowed its speed until it stopped completely. Felix glanced at the chosen game and had a bad feeling after seeing the word maze. He clicked on the game and its details were displayed in front of him.

Just like Felix feared, the game rules included hidden teleportation circles. A luck-based addition that could teleport a player near the exit, giving him a free win.
But to balance the game, that would be quite unlikely. This meant, the player would only be teleported in a large diameter around the exit, and that's only if he got lucky. In worst cases, he might be sent back to where he started!
That being said, Felix strangely wasn't looking at the 6th rule but actually had all of his attention attracted by the 8th rule!
"Can I do it regardless?... Maybe it can work even in a puzzle game." He kept murmuring under his breath in a trance-like state. 
He felt that his luck turned upside down too quickly. Just now, he was feeling horrible over landing on a puzzle format, but after seeing the 8th rule, a plan formed in his head. A plan, if executed correctly, he would obtain a shit load of game points.
The game added the 8th rule in order to help the less intelligent, or simply players who had abilities totally useless in locating the exit. They just needed to hunt for game points and hope that no one manages to find the exit before the game duration ends.
This game might be a puzzle type, but still, the SGA always left leeway for those with low IQ in some way or form. After all, no one wanted to watch a game that had 100 players, but only 3 were active within the field.

"Hopefully it works."
After a couple of minutes of deep pondering, Felix finally woke up from his daze. He lifted his head and saw that the wheel was still in front of him. He swiped it away from his face while requesting the Queen to search online for his game.
A moment later, a list that had only 3 shuffle mazes games was displayed before Felix. Those games were being played out in the entire Galaxy. 
Each game was from a different empire. This meant, the game Felix was currently on had only players from the Mariana empire. 
Felix's rank was too low to join galaxy-wide games that included players from all empires. He needed to reach gold for him to compete in that level.
He clicked on the game that was in the middle and was transferred to another web tab that showcased all the public details of the game.
Just like before, he pressed on the player list and was met with a long string of unique players' names.

Not surprised a bit that at least 80 players were silver ranked, Felix simply kept on reading the list in a nonchalant manner. 
He already knew that he would be placed in a silver ranked game, even though he was still in bronze. This was the result of Match Making Rating, or in short MMR.
Since Felix won his first game, it meant he was good enough to start playing against only veterans and hardcore players instead of unranked newbies. 
This rarely happens though, since the majority of unranked players actually end up losing at least 3 of their placement games or even all of them. This meant, they would start normally climbing from low bronzer to silver.
MMR affected all the players, not just Felix. Any player who had way more wins than losses get placed in games above his rank. 
As for those who had more losses than wins, they remain playing in the same rank instead of being placed in lower rank games. 
The SGA wasn't stupid to let that happen, as they knew that most players would start losing intentionally to be put in lower brackets and have an easier time competing with newbies. This wasn't a video game, where one gets rewarded only virtual points after he wins.
In the SG, winning meant getting a free wish to fulfill one's desires. In other words, every win was worth it, even in bronze rank.
Although Felix could be said that he was affected negatively by the MMR since he was put in a higher rank game, he didn't see it as such. He actually preferred so, as it meant, the wish would have a silver rank limit while he was still in bronze. 
This was a bonus for those managing to clinch the win over higher-ranked players than them.
Soon, Felix began scouting the highest-ranked players in the list, marking all the threats he planned on adding to his plan. 
He first started off with peak-tiered silver players. He picked them one by one and made sure to do detailed homework on their bloodline abilities, strengths, and weakness. Anything that was public about them, he made sure to remember it well.
He didn't want any surprises to f*ck up his plan.

A couple of hours went by, and Felix had studied 15 players all at once. He found some names that he somewhat recalled in his previous life, like Solar Mist and Hound Stench. One of them got famous immensely 7 years from now while the other had a unique characteristic that set him apart from a lot of bloodliners. 
However, the player that Felix actually remembered thoroughly, was named Birds Call. He didn't expect that the princess of the Maganda tribe would actually be in his game. He honestly didn't want to interact with her one bit.
Right now, Felix was refreshing the list every two minutes, wanting to see if there would be any new addition before he called it a quit. After a few refreshes, he saw two players joining the list. Mastermania, and EL Truca.
He clicked on Mastermania's name and was transferred to his profile page.
'Oh!'
His eyes shone with delight after finding out that he was actually an idol, popular enough to own a fan club with millions of members.
"Such free juicy exposure." He grinned while rubbing his hands in a wicked manner.
Players loved those kinds of popular idols the most, as by eliminating them they get a wide media exposure, thus turning them into semi-famous players instantly with low effort.
Felix planned to do so as well.
He needed as much exposure as possible, as relying only on his fan club to bring more fans was not enough to put him within everyone's radars.
The only ways to do so was by either winning games, and winning them magnificently, or eliminating popular players and idols.
That's how famous players were born before. Fan clubs were only by-products of that.
Shortly after, Felix closed the list tab and changed his outfit to training one. He planned to head to the training center to practice in his room.
Although he didn't receive the maze map, nothing stopped him from trying to mimic one by relying on the previous Shuffle Maze games.
Since there was no hidden addition in this game, it meant that the only difference within it would be the maze layout and hidden compartments places.
After he wore his outfit he entered his car, which was inside his garage, and drove speedily towards the Center.


Felix Maxwell was destined to be a loser, born on one of the weakest races and on the least favorable of situations, he was forced to face adversity head-on as he traveled across the vast universe where dangers laid in every corner, one day traveling in hopes of riches he stumbled upon a ruin where a supreme being laid imprisoned, in a stroke of bad luck the being laid its eyes on him and tried to take over his body, forcing itself upon him.

but fate hadn't given up on him!

he woke up in his younger body, 20 years in the past with the fallen being trapped in his soul.

 In his past life he had been a loser, giving up on things mid-way and never striving for greatness, he was a side character who made the strong shine even brighter, but not on this life.

he swore to himself he would strive for glory, he would take advantage of his knowledge and emerge as a supreme being!

"No. No. I am a centrist and don't like to talk about politics. I sincerely don't know enough about it to have a concrete opinion. I would hate to have a misinformed opinion. Do you have an opinion on such things?" A fine example of a man with a good head on his shoulder. He didn't talk about things that he didn't know about. Katherine couldn't help but be secretly impressed by this new quality that had come out. Turns out, this conversation was far more productive than she had initially thought it was.

"I have my own ideas, but I think they are a little idealist and you will laugh at them. We'll have to revisit this topic on a later date when I have an opinion on this matter." In actuality, she wasn't as embarrassed about her ideas as she said she was. She knew that politics could spark discussions that led to fights and she didn't want any of that when it came to her beloved Ray. They might have different political beliefs but there was more to them than such fickle ideas about the world. "But I do like Obama as well. I know a lot of people give him slack for being so good at comedy, but I find the man extremely charming. I am now rethinking the answer I was about to give. I should invite him over and not the answer I am going to give." She was abashed.

"Now, now. Think about it. If we have two different answers, we could totally meet both the people we are going to invite over. Nothing is impossible." She threw her head back in laughter. 

"I love how you always assume that we will someday meet!" She joked.

"Honey, what's the use of falling in love if you don't meet?" he replied with an edge to his voice.

"I used to believe that one can't fall in love without meeting and that it takes a lot of time to fall," she sighed.

"But now you have been proved wrong, haven't you?" His voice was filled with amusement.

"Are you being cheeky, right now?" she asked, the same hint of humor in her voice. 

"Of course, love."

"Do you even want my answer?" she bit back.

"Give it to me."

"I want to invite Cage Cavanaugh to dinner." He sucked in a breath, but she didn't seem to notice the change in his behaviour. "I want to see my friends' faces when they see him enter. I am by far the most composed of them and am sure that I wouldn't react when I saw him but Lily is a nutjob. She would squeal. And Angelina? I am contemplating if I should tell you this story." And it was a tough one. She was in for sharing one of the most embarrassing stories about her friends that existed. She was conflicted about spewing such nonsense and scaring the man away, too. 

"Please do tell me. I would love to know." So, all three roommates were fans of his. Should he have been happy to hear that? Or scared?

"Mr. Cavanaugh did an interview during his promotion for 'Under the Stars' and Angelina inhaled the information. She found out that he plays some game that she does and searched high and low for him." He remembered that stupid game that was asking to make him the face of their brand, Detective Puzzles. "I think she found someone who unintentionally made her think that they were the actor and well… she now thinks she is in a secret online relationship with him." Cage started to cough and made no attempt to hide it. He couldn't even bring himself to laugh at the irony of the situation. One friend thought she was dating a star while the other remained oblivious that she was 'really' dating a star online. 

"I don't know whether I should laugh or cry, but I can tell that she won't listen to our warnings. She is set on what she wants." As are most women who confuse him for his characters.

"And you? Didn't you try to find your favorite actor?" he asked, his spidey senses flaring. What if she had tried to find him and had succeeded and now she was pretending like she didn't know? The horrifying thought left him with goosebumps.

"Did I tell you he was my favorite? Or did you assume?" She remained oblivious to his distress.

"You think he is the hottest man on the planet. How wouldn't I know that you like him the best?" He was testing her.

"That's not true. I like you the best," she said proudly. Within a second all his suspicions melted and he felt like he was turning into a pile of glue. How easy it was to convince him that she was the purest girl out there.

'No. No. She is my filthy little girl.' He thought proudly and grinned. 

"Now 'you' are being cheesy. Do you know that?" His voice was warm and fuzzy and she could hear it. She smiled as she answered.

"Yes. And no, I didn't try to search for him. It's not my place to invade his privacy. Moreover, I am not stupid enough to think that I would somehow find him among the barrages of people who tried. I don't think my luck would be that great."

He threw his head back in laughter. Oh, to think she would still not be able to figure it out and be so oblivious when he had let her hear his real voice. But he had to admit, his voice on the microphone was very different from what it sounded on television. He couldn't fault her for being a rational human being who knew the possibility of her finding a celebrity was close to zero percent. But she was… she was talking to him, dammit and he would soon have to reveal himself.

"And what would happen if you did find him on the internet? And you could speak to him?" He couldn't help but tease her a little.

She knew she should scream, or stomp on his foot, but all she could do was listen to his breathing escalate as his thumb rubbed her shoulder, putting her in a stupor. 

She thought she heard him sniff her hair and his lips lightly grazed her ears as he whispered. "Don't miss the show because of me, little girl." 

Her eyes flickered back to the couple in the car, and she let out a whimper as she saw the man pull at the woman's hair, baring her beck to him, inviting his mouth to lick and suck. She felt ‘him’ close the gap between them, his hard body pressed up against hers, his arms tightly holding her. There was no mistaking what she felt on her lower back and she closed her eyes in delight.

Major Greg Castillo - A police major who has been investigating and looking for Master Murderer from Hell for a long time. He is the brain of the investigations unit in charge in tracking the crimes perpetuated by the Master Murderer from Hell.
 
SPO2 Alfred Santiago – A personally chosen partner of Inspector Basil. He believes that the justice system of the Philippines is upright, and will do anything he can to expose the criminals. His strong sense of justice is what Basil recognized him for. (S2 – S3 – SPO2)
 
SPO4 Ricardo Buscarile – A rough and tough policeman trying to track down the crime planners. A very dedicated officer and was one of the key policemen in keeping the whole city safe.
 
SAN RAFAEL VIOLENT CRIMES UNIT 3

Inspector Antonio Buendia – The leader of Violent Crimes Unit 3 from San Rafael. He is a classmate of Basil when they were in the Police Academy. He is famous for his excellence in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and gun handling. He is a big fan of classical music.
 
PO1 Remedios Arkanghel – a well-trained police officer assigned to investigate violent crimes. She is one of the few recommended officers by the academy with outstanding performance. She is a fast runner.
 
PO1 Winston Pagsanjan - a quirky police officer who always teams up with Remedios in their duties. He is secretive on his personal life; thus, no one really knows what he likes that much. However, most of the other officers know that he at least like gimbap.
 
CEBU MPD, VIOLENT CRIMES UNIT 1
(Appearances: The Ace of Spades Serial Murder Case)
 
Senior Inspector Phillip Rivas – the leader of the Violent Crimes Unit. A very intelligent policeman and has a strong sense of justice.
 
PO3 Enrico Salcedo – a policeman who can't read the air. He worked his promotion by catching criminals during his Riot Division days. He is tasked to inspect the crime scene and catch criminals if caught red handed.
 
PO3 Zavier Calao – a policeman who loves mathematics. He always warns Enrico to be sensitive at times as his jokes might hurt or offend people. His job is to search for people that the unit needs to investigate or interrogate.

PO2 Sedro Martin – the profiler of the unit. He studied profiling at the FBI and came back to Cebu after two years.
 
PO1 Jeric Estabillo – a new member of the unit. He is the unit's runner – he goes to anywhere is tasked to investigate, search, inspect or rescue.

SPO1 Leonard Joaquin – the leader of the Cold Cases Unit. He is an on-foot policeman who does the questioning and interview for the bereaved family of the victims.

PO3 Allen Pacheco – the unit's researcher. He was a part of the Cybercrime Division but got transferred to the Cold Cases Unit after he had an argument with the higher ups.

Sam - A mysterious woman. She is an assistant of Master Murderer from Hell. She negotiates with people to commit crime according to their master plan. Her crime plans are focused on puzzles and locked room styles. Her code name is The Queen of Death.
 
Janus - A mysterious man. He is an assistant of Master Murderer from Hell. He prepares all the things needed in the master plans. His crime plans are usually focused on impossible magic tricks and occultic murder tricks. He makes sure that the plan will be smooth, trackless and there's nothing to be seen by the police. He always makes sure there is an escape route for them and an escape car. He likes to drive luxury cars. His code name is The Reaper of Souls.
 
Master Murderer from Hell – He is a man enshrouded with mystery. He creates murder plans for fun and let other people do the dirty work for him. His crime plans focus on using science and literature references to throw away the investigators to the truth. Because of him wearing different prosthetic masks, his real identity is actually unknown. The Moriarty to Kaeden.
 
RECURRING CHARACTERS
 
Dr. Crisanto Quirino - A very well-known psychiatrist; Inspector Basil's friend. He has helped a few of Basil's cases in the past. He does not like to be connected to the police work, in any matter, as he believes that saving people from their depression and anxiety is what he is called for.
 
Renato Garcia - a rich businessman who owns tons of businesses in the Philippines, including financing, malls, banks, resorts, money changers, restaurants and hospitals. He is a big philanthropist and a friend to the Boa Vista family. Josephine's father.
 
Crescencia Garcia - the daughter of a jeweler business giant. She spends most of her time going to beauty spas more than her family's business. She loves paprika and pizzas more than anybody. Josephine's mother. 
 
Ricardo Rodriguez - A famous mystery author. He is known for his locked-room murder novels and somehow, met Kaeden's father when he was still alive.
 
Eric Del Valle - a barista working at Mycroft Cafe. Basil's nephew. He is a Forensic Science graduate.
 
Dr. Esperanza Datuin - a consulting psychiatrist from San Rafael, Bulacan.
 
Dr. Cresencio La Madrid - a general practice doctor from San Fernando, Pampanga.
